Discussion: Pompeo And Mnuchin Reimpose Iran Sanctions Lifted Under 2015 Nuke Deal

And when do the sanctions on Saudi Arabia come?

Never. So long as Saudis are buying apartments in Trump-branded buildings or holding events in Trump-branded hotels.

It’s all about shredding Obama’s achievements, slathered with extra cruelty sauce.

This maladministration is certainly leading the league in election stunts.

Pompeo and Mnuchin both said the sanctions will have exceptions for humanitarian purchases.

Doubtless steps will be taken to assure the reimposition in no way adversely affects Donald Trump, his family, or any of the various businesses he's involved with.

Only partially. It’s also about giving Netanyahu whatever he wants. He’s in charge of our Middle East policy now.

The sanctions go into effect the day before the election.
The negative consequences of the sanctions (e.g., higher oil prices) won’t be felt until after the election.

That’s right: gotta win back the Jewish voters who might have been alienated by that pesky massacre that “slowed the momentum.”

The bullying of other nations to comply with this wrongheaded policy is already diminishing global support for the US dollar’s global hegemony. The eventual damage to US influence just from this, not to mention the loss of exceptional economic privileges we’ve enjoyed from the dollar’s role, does not in any way make America great again.

So this means it’s OK for Iran to go full speed ahead on nuclear weapons?

I’m just wondering if there might be a few sanctions for Saudi Arabia for the murder of Khashoggi? I know you’re busy and its a very long stretch but you might want to consider it to be fair.

I guess Iran will have to agree to Trump Tower Tehran and then, nevermind those pesky sanctions…

Those 2 things are not mutually exclusive. In fact, they overlap 100% with Likud and KSA agenda.

Well European Union, China, Russia and all the rest of the sane world, it is your move to neutralize the United States of trump.

This whole thing stinks in that it takes the European Union out of the equation of what is going to be allowed for oil sales.

"Eight countries will be able to continue importing Iranian oil at lower levels in order to avoid upsetting global crude markets when the sanctions take effect on Monday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and the other US officials said.

Unusually, Pompeo did not name the eight, other than to say the European Union is not among them. South Korea, Japan and India are expected to get a reprieve, however, and possibly China.

All are among Iran’s biggest oil customers, and they have argued that stopping their purchases immediately would cause oil prices to spike worldwide." South China Post 11/02/2018

The only party that has repeatedly violated all aspects pf this agreement is the U.S.

Our word is now worth shit to the international community - Donald is truly remaking the country in his image right down to reneging on every deal.

Netanyahu also seems to be in charge of our Mexican border policy now, what with Trump’s “rocks equal rifles” bullshit.

Indeed. It’s Bibi’s Wet Dream to goad America in to a war with Iran. He has been working on this for a couple of decades. And with the shadow President Kushner - Bibi’s good friend and now MBS’s secret alliance - I would expect Bibi to help create some sort of Gulf of Tonkin type of event.

He has never been in such a strong position to get what he has coveted for so long: America going to war against Iran.
