Discussion for article #235592
ROTFLMAO! These pollsters are really something.
Wisconsin’s governor is Gov. Scott Walker, or Gov. Walker, but not “Gov. Scott.” Unless, that is, Walker and Florida’s Lizard King have merged into a single “Gov. Scott” entity that will run on a platform of slashing every social program imaginable to man…
So, Hillary Clinton gets 8 points less vote than Obama did in 2012? Not bloody likely. Somebody needs to closely examine this pollster.
This “branding” of personages as product is kind of silly with the Age of Consumerism winding down. Worse still, polling assumes such a thing as brand loyalty. That conceivably goes as far as party affiliation, but as we’ve seen with the Tea Party, not even that far. If we do have brand loyalties left, it is to big durable goods like car makes. By that token, the main voter demand is for something that works reliably, like a Volvo station wagon or an old Ford pickup truck. Rubio looks like he’s going to be spending lots of time in the shop even without a major mechanical failure caused by carelessness. Hillary, even with high mileage, looks like she’s good for another 100,000 miles. Moreover, both Bill Clinton and Barack Obama brought some stoner cred to the Democratic voter base, so mile-highage may be more important than high-mileage anyway.
Polls are like ’ most ’ politicians : they lie . And this is a hypothetical poll : which means nothing .
The spread between Republican candidates is narrow, reflecting that this poll is basically putting a generic Republican up against the known Democratic candidate, Clinton.
This poll should raise warning flags about the shallow depth of Clinton’s support in the face of such mediocre opposition.
I find this weird. The Q pollsters want us to believe that that many people even know who Rubio is?
Not buying it.
A generic opponent usually isn’t mediocre in the eyes of those being polled. “Generic” essentially means a blank slate that those being polled can project all kinds of fantastic things onto, without any of the old baggage that comes with well-known politicians. With this much time out from the thick of campaign season, and before the usually damaging GOP primaries, gaffes, and chattering class analysis, this poll is mostly just filler.
Its Hillary’s lackluster support I am concerned about. This is the nation that gave us G W Bush not so long ago. The Republicans are going to be extremely hard to beat .
Oh please. Here we are with another presidential election race where repubs are against everything I believe in and have fought for over the years. I am mystified by the fact that white women vote for them. I’m white and find women who vote repub to be traitors to their gender. This is about the future of all women in our country and not just a few who are against abortion. I don’t want to be dragged back to the 1950s.
Perhaps the putative Mr. Rubio will soon be measuring virtual curtains for the hypothetical White house.
idk I will have to swallow hard to vote for Hillary. I could get enthused about Elizabeth, Bernie, or just about anyone else on the D side. But Hillary…
If our side would wake up and keep their eyes on the prize, they would know Hillary is the best candidate. (Warren isn’t running). It’s not just about the White House. It’s about the House, Senate and the Supreme Court. Yes, the Dems should have more candidates running because it would make Hillary a stronger candidate. In my world there are many folks supporting Hillary.
Question: When partitioned out state by state, how does this translate into electoral college “votes”?
A couple of things. Why is trailing Obama’s numbers so surprising? There are an awful lot of people on both sides that are not enamored of A clinton candidacy. Quinnipiac is a very highly respected pollster. And finally the only poll that matters is the one in November 2016
I have no idea why anyone would say the Republicans will be hard to beat. Obama won in 2012 by 126 electoral votes, and that was with a much weaker economy by now. Rubio is telegenic but not particularly bright, and he’ll be recycling Romney’s platform.
Hillary will be very tough to beat.
Interesting when you consider the media has been fawning all
over Rubio while they bashed HRC for months.Â
The media is still in love with Rubio’s hype while they obsess over the right
wing meme of HRC
Rubio must get a lot of campaign money from the bottled water lobby.
How do you know she’s the best candidate when there’s no one primarying her? The folks in your world might not be supporting HRC if they could see any kind of Dem alternative that appeared to be appealing and viable.
Please don’t misunderstand me: I’m NOT saying that Dems shouldn’t vote for HRC. I’m not petulant or stupid. Of course, I’ll vote for if she’s the Dem nominee. I’m just complaining that too many Dems appear to be taking her nomination as a given.
