Discussion for article #223729
Republicans take “poisoning the well” to a whole other level. I expected a polling result like this, in part because of the effectiveness of the Republican smear machine. But also, because I’ve lost any hope that the majority of the American public can engage in any type of thinking more complicated than that required to operate a T.V. remote.
Proof that voters can’t think for themselves.
Proving once again that Republicans are so completely around the bend that they truly believe that when this president exercises presidential power in the exact same way that his predecessors did, its an impeachable offense.
You could have just stopped the headline with “Polls: Americans divided along party lines.”
A country is not conquered from without until it is conquered from within. We will ultimately fall because of this division. It’s how every great nation has fallen in the past, and we seem to be speeding toward the inevitable same demise.
Ahh such is the power of Fox Noise and Clear Channel Radio over Republicans.
It will be interesting to hear what Sgt Bergdahl has to say .
That really is the issue - the ability to think and reason logically. There is no mainstream news, just emotional pot stirring. That said, I think Chris Hayes is the exception. He’s the most thoughtful person on cable news. I wish he were more popular.
Remember Republicans are great at tactics but suck at strategy.
Their tactics help keep Obama’s disapproval rating up but none of this will help them to carry all 4 states required to win a Presidency
for a Republican (since Calvin Coolidge)…Colorado,Virginia,Ohio
and Florida…
Decent reporting would have pointed out what the polling was before Obama actually secured it.
What could possibly have caused GOTPers to suddenly flip 100% on it?
Republicans have been reduced to the low-information, bigoted, stupid bottom 27% of Americans.
The worst among us.
They are brainwashed cultists.
Bergdahl will be treated differently than Jessica Lynch, who according to the propaganda operatives in the media and military, fought to the end, was raped and came home a hero. Only to set the record straight, years later. We can’t wait for Bergdahl to put the hay in the barn and burn Obama.
I like Chris too, but I wish he’d wean himself from what appears to be his need to interview “Republican operatives/nut-jobs du jour.”
Chris would do better if he dropped the hipster persona.
This is shameful. Americans should be supportive when an American soldier comes home. Full stop. No matter who is the president. No matter who gets the credit. Only 55% of Americans are supportive? WTF? Republicans brought this “debate” into the mainstream and as usual, there was no narrative from the Democratic side strong enough to counter-balance it.
> Forty-eight percent of Republicans also answered that the U.S. was not obligated to do all it could to secure Bergdahl’s freedom because he left his post.
And I wonder how many in that 48 % right now has a support our troops decal on the back of their car.
I agree, I tune in to Hayes, but it’s because he omits bells and whistles and present the news in a straightforward manner that he’s never going to be watched and heeded in the same way as any glib and uninformed Faux screamer.
What Sgt. Bergdahl has to say, sadly, is irrelevant. This issue is entirely about Barack Obama.
Bergdahl is simply a victim of collateral damage.
So now we really know who supports the troops. It’s not what you say, it’s what you do.
