Discussion: Poll: Whites And Blacks Agree That The Police Don't Treat Races Equally

Discussion for article #226854

" 58 percent of whites said that police performed only fair or poor on racial equality, while 91 percent of blacks said the same"

Roughly equal for whites and 9 out of 10 for blacks. That’s agreement–as per the headline?

On the question of their local police, the divide between whites and blacks was more striking: 71 percent of whites had a good deal or fair amount of confidence in the local authorities, while only 36 percent of blacks felt the same way.

I’m surprised it’s that close.

So Megyn Kelly was right after all! Blacks and whites can agree that unfair policing, as Ferguson demonstrates is President Obama’s and the Democratic governor in Missouri’s fault! (re. another story)

That’s not what the headline said.

That’s not agreement. The relevant number is opinion about the local departments. Blacks think their local departments are unfair, whites think their local department is fair. The local department is the only one that people an control.

Strikingly hate and fear seems to have taken a back seat to ignorance in this poll. The world view Ferguson for what it is, structural racism in a system driven by guns, profit and race.

While roughly 80% of crimes committed by the races are same race incidents, the majority of citizens think black crime against whites are out of control, and thus the inequalities in incarceration rates. They feel safe with their PD.

Ferguson may serve as a beacon for more than oppression, adding in the militarization and dumbing down of policing. The Bobbies have another reason to snicker beside Romney. We are the laughing stock of the world on guns, voting, war, prisons, education, wages and health care. To be the leader of the free world we do quite a few dumb things.

Such is the pain of having to admit, as with Bundy, they were on the wrong side, initially. So, in Al Jolson’s style, aka Ben Carson these days, working in “black face” you must give the audience what they want, in another way ( personal responsibility) laughter.

When blacks and whites in America agree on any particular issue, especially race, it’s time to stop the bullshitry, and do something. No matter how big or small the margin of error!
