Discussion: Poll: Trump Hits 41 Percent Among GOP Voters, His Widest Lead Yet

Discussion for article #243750

Reince Priebus is frantically calling around the office right now hoping to locate someone who keeps an extra pair of pants at their desk.

I think it’s not too early to start getting lots of detail about the GOP nominating calendar: when each state’s primary is, which ones are open and which are limited to registered Republicans, who has a winner-take-all vote, that kind of thing. We’re about to go into hibernation for the holidays, then just a few weeks to Iowa, and after that things will happen very quickly.

And I’m starting to think Trump will win this.

Not just Reince, millions of people in this country, and millions in other countries are all seeking a change of pants. Excuse me while I go change.

Remind me again, what are the economic policy reasons people are voting for Trump?

@Dangoodbar
No one has enough time to wait for the answer to this since his people don’t have a clue what he’s proposing. He doesn’t know either, but he talks a good game…

You mean he will win the nomination I suppose. Because he’s trashed and alienated too many people to have them turn out in big enough numbers to elect him. But after he wins IA (a joke where candidates send in their supporters to vote) and NH, he will begin to sink IMO

The economy of hate and fear, and it seems to be working.

And why wouldn’t he have a huge lead? Pretty much every political headline in every medium has his name in it. People who can’t recall any other candidates in a survey absolutely know of Trump. It’s like what John Lennon said about Jesus.

The 4 early states are all in February. Take a look at just the states on Super Tuesday,March 1st.

Alabama
Alaska (GOP)
Arkansas
Colorado caucuses
Georgia
Massachusetts
Minnesota caucuses
Oklahoma
Tennessee
Texas
Vermont
Virginia

I’d say that lineup favors Trump(if he hasn’t imploded) and Cruz.

Sink? He’s leading in SC.

Can’t find any recent polling on Nevada. Trump was winning big there in October:

These things are still done on a state by state basis. A national poll is not the same thing. How does Trump poll in the individual races, such as Iowa where we hear Cruz has a major lead by focusing on the Christian activists in their caucus?

Yep, hard ceiling. lol

By my counting, he’s just about at 20% of the actual electorate at this point. Every time he opens his yap, it grows. At this point the only ceiling I’m counting on is the 45% that will automatically pull the lever for the ® column.

I wonder at what point the Republican party elite will recognize that the problem is not Donald Trump, the problem is the base of their party is made up of dimwitted, hateful, know-nothings?

Again, it’s not so much Trump. What in the world are my fellow Americans thinking about following this loon. What’s the matter with these people?

God, you succinctly put what I’ve been thinking all along, but just didn’t put into words.

My concern is that these people may also represent an overwhelming percentage of the US population. (The main reason I am not a fan of a democracy, and feel there should be a test to vote.)

Because he’s great. and he’s going to make america great agains.

It doesn’t matter. They are “Mad as Hell and not going to take it anymore!”
whatever “IT” is.
Trump has tapped into the White, Lower-Class, Christian ID and has them in his thrall.
They will follow him to hell, proud of their greed, fear, ignorance, intolerance, and stupidity.
Welcome to 1932 Weimar Germany and the “Marching Morons”.
I expect Trump to start playing “Uber Allies” as his Campaign Song.
