Discussion: Poll Shows Ossoff's Lead Over Handel Narrow Slightly In Georgia House Race

GA-6, please show up and show out!

Tell America, who is the boss…

A close race will hopefully motivate Democrats to turn out. Not holding my breath but open to being pleasantly surprised. Ossoff is such a good candidate he deserves to win.

We shouldn’t be overconfident, of course, but one good sign is the fact that no poll has shown Handel in the lead for more than six weeks now. That’s encouraging.

Hoping for the best here. We need a win. Bigly.

Per Greg Palast, The GOP is engaged in a massive voter suppression campaign in the 6th that could swing this election their way. Once again people will blame faulty polling when/if Ossoff loses when the truth is far more sinister. TPM should get on this story!

No shit, some people think that if you’re a Democrat you ENCOURAGE abortions, shovel OUR PRECIOUS GOVERNMENT MONEY at worthless people, and support the death of our republic.

Among progressives, that belief is almost inconceivable. If you want to reduce the number of abortions, make abortions unnecessary via universal access to contraception. Dude, get real. Nothing else works.

If you don’t want “black crime” make it unnecessary via equal education. Get real. Nothing else works. Education ALWAYS works.

If you don’t want “terrorism,” make it unnecessary. 16 years in Afghanistan and Iraq - literally TRILLIONS spent - for what? To find ourselves fighting ISIS? Make ISIS unnecessary.

That’s my humble suggestion, though of course the many brilliant people trying to make a living by supporting Trump won’t find their way to that solution. They’re too busy “lawyering up,” trying to avoid the inevitable.

Dude. Don’t try to avoid the inevitable. Embrace the inevitable. Don’t be a loser.

Did Trump ever lead Hillary in the polls before the election?

Yes, around the time of the Republican convention.

More accurate headline: polls continue to show tight race.

A 0.8% move in a poll with a 7% range in the margin of error is indistinguishable from noise.

The polls are telling us what the primary did: a good candidate is giving Dems a real shot in a district that is tough for Dems to win. He won’t win if Dems don’t do an extraordinary job getting voters to show up.

No, but he also lost in the popular vote. There’s no Electoral College in a Congressional election. The candidate with the most votes wins.

Republicans will win because Republicans will cheat.

I read the Pallast story and while I don’t recall the details, I don’t think there was anything in it that would support the argument that there is Republican voter suression in this Congressional race. Nothing keeps voters in this district from voting except their own predilections or laziness.

I’m just about at the point where if the Republicans want to cut my taxes and cut government programs for others, while Democratic voters don’t vote, that’s no longer my problem. I say “just about at the point” because I continue to contribute to Democratic candidates. Not sure how much longer it makes sense to do so.

I hope you are right. If Trump and this GOP Congress are not enough to get people out to vote, I don’t know what will be. It’s most discouraging.

It’s practically the definition of noise, in fact.

Polls are like (most) politicians - they lie .

To be clear, do you think that the design and results of polls are jiggered to produce a particular result, or skewed, as was the term recently?
