I will personally be volunteering as a campaign worker for any viable Democratic candidate that opposes Grassley in his next election.
We have a real chance of taking Grassley out in 2016. His opponent, Patty Judge is very popular and he has not done himself any favors.
Of course, this will require every Democrat and high minded progressive vote.
This is encouraging. Since Judge announced she hasn’t really done much campaigning, at least that I’ve seen, and I’m uncertain what kind of campaign she would run. Not totally fair to blame her for Culver’s loss that let Terry Braindead back in, but as I recall Culver ran one of those “I’m sorry I’m a democrat” campaigns. More Hogg signs showing up though, so at least he’s trying to reach out to people. If he can bring some fire to the campaign trail I hope he gets the nod.
Democrats need to target Grassley. He needs to pay for being an obstructionist.
It is very disturbing when you can not get the facts straight. Patty Judge is not the candidate running against Grassley. She was recruited by one of the congressional campaign groups but there are three others running. The primary will determine who that is. At our district convention Saturday she was not the best received candidate. State Senator Hogg seemed to be the favorite with Bernie supporter Fiegen a strong second. Quite frankly electing Judge would simply be replacing one career politician with another.
This correction of Judge being the candidate has been posted on other TPM articles. Please get it right!
I guess that when you try to overthrow the Constitution of the United States, Iowans tend to notice.
Grassley is doing more than blocking a nomination.
He’s refusing to do the job he swore an oath to perform faithfully, and he’s tearing up the Constitution of the United States in the process.
I hope Grassley goes down in flames. The former Lt. Governor is pretty popular from my understanding. Grassley won’t do his job and hasn’t for years, making up bogus reasons for why he’s not willing to do his constitutional duty as a Senator…Iowa’s not fooled by his constant intransigence in office. Time to give the old fart the old heave ho. Why should taxpayers continue to subsidize a lifestyle where you don’t do what you were elected to do?
Can’t wait for November. Lots of long time GOPers will pay for GOP arrogant obstructionism and pandering to racists and plutocrats.
I don’t expect Josh or the staff spend a lot of time on reading our comments. Have you emailed him at the link on the home page?
You know what horrible fate comes to members of Congress who have low approval ratings?
They get reelected 98% of the time.
There is, in fact, a Democratic primary for the US Senate. Judge is not “the opponent.” People who like clean water are backing Rob Hogg.
They might----if Iowans show some moxie and continue to whittle down Grassley’s advantage.
Here you go, man!

Oops
I assume you were speaking about Judge specifically, but I have to take exception with the wrong-headed vilification of the phrase “career politician.” That’s akin to the Repugs whining about the “intellectuals” as if you really want stupid people representing you. (I know that is kind of their thing…)
We have a huge number of career politicians representing all of us quite well – locally, nationally and internationally, in public and behind the scenes. This idea that you want some fresh faces that have no idea what they’re is doing, and that have absolutely no status or pull with their peers is silly. The idea that some “outsider” is going to come and shake things up is naive. tRump is a prime example of the outsider that (some crazy) people think will lead them to greatness.
Certainly, there are entrenched wankers like Grassley not doing the jobs they were elected to do, but give me someone well trained and experienced over the FNG any day.
Edited for grammar.
Thank you!
A Hogg running in Iowa? This stuff writes itself.
Me, too!
