Discussion: Poll: Paul Most Competitive Against Clinton in Key States

Discussion for article #233372

That may be what the polls show today, but that isn’t what they would look like in October 2016.

Rand Paul would never stand up to the scrutiny of a Presidential campaign. He may get moderate push-back now when he opines about things like vaccines that result in immediate mental retardation - but if he were to be the Republican nominee, he would be pilloried (by late night comics, by news shows, by Democratic pundits, etc) in ways that would simply make him completely unelectable. Paul has already said and done so many insane things that the material he provides would sink him.

I don’t think Paul has much prospect of surviving the Republican primaries and becoming the nominee, but if he is these kinds of numbers would evaporate quickly once his insane statements are placed under a national microscope…

This is the silliest thing I’ve seen this morning and yes I looked at Facebook today. We can only hope the GOP picks Paul. Can’t wait to hear how running a 17 trillion dollar economy on gold doubloons will work…

Gotta love any article that implies RANDY has a snowballs chance.

The thing that he’s got going for him is that he’s young. He’s able to attract more young libertarians and Republicans than his dad. People laugh but don’t forget that McCain beat GWB in NH in 2000,McCain lost IA in 2008,Romney lost IA in 2012 and Gingrich won SC in 2012. We don’t know who all is running on the GOP side, but the potential is there for Rand Paul to pick up a coupla early wins.

While it’s certainly true he can’t win the nom, you could bet good money that he has the potential to cripple JEB’s campaign. He does have some amount of momentum behind him from some areas.

I’m eager to see the final GOP 2016 Primary/Caucus schedule. I think RP has the potential to cripple Jeb’s campaign earlier and a lot more than Santorum did to Willard. RP will be much better funded than Santorum was.

Hello? We have just begun to fight. Ask millions of women how they feel about repubs & Sen. Paul.

GOP has so many froot loops to choose from.

Time to start worrying about hipsters and their fascination with libertarianism.

Not to mention serial Paulagiarism, aquabudda, the fact that he’s his father’s son, that he doesn’t have a degree in Biology, etc.

Once again, people should be at least passingly familiar with the content of dad’s newsletter. It’s appalling and nutty:

BFD. He is close in three states with a total of 29 Electoral votes (and he isn’t the Rethug nominee.) I am sure Hill is shaking in her boots. (She isn’t the Democratic nominee yet either but…)

I wonder if Senator Paul will assemble his own Electoral College and declare himself POTUS? Maybe he can plagiarize Lincoln during his inaugural speech and claim to be an Oxford PHD at his first economic summit.

There is also the fact that Rand Paul will NEVER be president of the USA. There is nothing to the man but schtick. Even with a cadre of smart handlers you couldn’t fake this dummy through 4 years as president.

Maybe not,but he could be a spoiler. I don’t see him giving up his Senate seat if he didn’t think he at least had a chance to win the nomination.

I don’t believe he ā€˜thinks’ but I do believe he has a HUGE ego. I say go for it. The more of these nutters the better.
