Discussion: Poll: Majority Of Republicans Oppose The Idea Of A Contested Convention

They also oppose teaching evolution. Yet evolution is what they teach us all.

The more bitter the convention, and the more contested the results, the better off America will be. If ever a political party deserved death by self-mutilation, its this Republican party.

There is no way this ends well for them. Please proceed!

Screwed if they do and screwed if they don’t.
Great job, Rinses!!!

This is a party that steals presidential elections, tried to impeach a Democratic president for getting a blowie, and works tirelessly to this day to restrict voting blocs that favor Democrats. Does anyone really believe they would think twice about denying the nomination to a candidate they don’t want just because he got the most votes in the primaries?

Holy cow, those numbers shock for me for other reasons. Only 51% think Trump should get it if he has the most delegates and the number of Repubs that think it’s okay to get an outsider really shocks me. This really does show the authoritarian roots in their party.

If the Dems were close and the powers that be decided, fine, no HRC or Bernie, we don’t think either one is ideal, so here’s Senator Sherrod Brown (who I quite like), he can do it, I’d be appalled and furious.

No. Besides, with the M.O.E, at 4.7%, this poll could be interpreted differently in the headline.

By the way, the majority of people are women.

I don’t think they’d hesitate. But the question is whether they have any non-debacle options.

Sorry rubes, did you think the GOP cared about you opinion? Now ask Jesus for forgivness while your nice corporate overloards choose someone who will lower their taxes and allow them to destroy the planet.

As a huge cat lover I hesitate to “like” that but I do find it unpleasantly fascinating. : )

The GOP hasn’t won a national election in 12 years.
The RNC does not want to make it 20.

If Trump or Cruz had a snowball-in-hell chance of beating Hillary or Bernie–and poll after poll after poll after poll after poll indicate that neither of them do–their party leadership would back them fully.

The Republican rank-and-file seem to believe that the RNC won’t accept Trump because he’s such a bad-ass.
The part where Trump expects the party leadership to piss away a half-billion dollars with zero anticipated return on this investment, solely for the purpose of stroking his ego, goes right over their heads.

Apparently they can’t decide which way to go.

Do the majority of republicans know what a “contested convention” is?

Yeah, but how many support a contested convention if it means their guy wins?

Has anybody found the missing link in the evolution from a useless GOP senator to a reptile that serves a useful purpose in the marine ecosystem?

The Trumpets (Trumpites?, Trumpkins? dunno, still working on it) have already warned that the party had better not mess with their choice of candidate. This is when the prediction of “violence” becomes a reality, when T’s people makes their unhappiness known on live TV.

@meri Something like a reality show but running for several days in succession in one location on Lake Erie.
