I could forgive “Democratic-affililated” wording (though still problematic) but this “Democratic-leaning” phrase is simply, factually untrue and lazy rancid bullshit.
the Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling firm
Here’s the thing, Lauren. “Lean” is a technical term in polling that refers to a systematic polling bias. PPP is not “Democratic-leaning”. It may be Democratic-affiliated or Democratic-owned, but it is not “Democratic-leaning”. It has consistently been shown to be among the most accurate of the polling firms. By contrast, both Gallup and Rasmussen are demonstrably “Republican-leaning” but somehow TPM never seems to mention this
(http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2012/sep/25/gallup-rasmussen-polling-outliers-lean-republican).
If your word processor is set to auto-correct “Public Policy Polling” to “Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling” then break your word processor. If you don’t know what a term means, then you shouldn’t use it.
Citizens United is having an effect, nevertheless. Dark money is sponsoring the ads that are driving Republican Senators to take what they are know is an unconscionable position on filling the Supreme Court vacancy during President Obama’s term.
Pa is showing an Ad from an outside group asking us to call Toomey and thank him for “letting the people decide” Of course I called and emailed and told them the “people did decide” they elected President Obama…
Great idea I think I will email Toomey again and use that exact sentence.
We got a chance if dems stick together and play hard ball like the repubs… They had 7 years of training from the repubs.
Unlike many stories that involve non-election polls of voters, this one makes me happy.
I know what you mean, but I think pressure on people to do the right thing is good. But I hope these idiots are voted out after facilitating a vote for Obama’s nominee.
Let me give you two names:
Elena Kagan.
Sonya Sotomayor.
President Obama will nominate someone who is a moderate, leaning liberal. Someone like Kagan or Sotomayor. His nominee will be eminently qualified to serve on the Supreme Court – like his previous nominees were.
The only reason for voting “nay” on confirmation will be blatantly and transparently political. If it happens (and I think there’s a good chance it will), I hope that our fellow voters can see through it too.
How can a GOP senator be against a nominee BEFORE that nominee is even chosen?
Answer;
Because Obama is an African American.
This time around the Nay votes are following McConnell’s blatantly racist lead. It’s a lot more than just political this time. There’s hatred and a real desire to humiliate Obama in a serious way. it’s trying my vocabulary to describe how much I dislike this GOPer racist attitude.
Hey I could you some additional funds, why don’t they contact me??? I feel left out.
Hopefully, that will not obscure Mitchie’s biggest political mistake of his career.
