Discussion: Politico: Rick Scott Officially Running For Senate

Because one Republican miscreant Senator isn’t enough. If Scott wins, then Florida is truly: America’s Dick.

Albeit a flaccid dick.

He should always–always–be referred to as “Admitted Thief Rick Scott.” Or maybe, just to vary it a bit, as Rick, The Man Who Admitted Stealing $1.8 Billion From Medicare, Scott. Democrats cannot remind Florida voters enough about his past.

“Crooked Scotty”
“Ricky, Scurge of the Rest Homes”

VERY important for Dems to commit financially and otherwise to this race, I think.

Just the thought of “Bat Boy” being on the national stage in the Senate is enough to give me nightmares … SMH

Ol’ Voldemort’s gotta be pretty confident to think he can beat Nelson. Considering his 27% approval rating, the Parkland shooting/gun control, and about 200,000 angry Puerto Ricans moving to Florida, I don’t think his chances are very good and that’s not even considering the national political atmosphere.

The GOP has a massive ground game in Florida. Florida is literally HQ for the GOP’s strategy to take over the nation. The so-called “America First” conglomerate, now based in Jacksonville", has brought in every shady operator, every piece of ethical slime in their party to connive together in Florida.

ETA: This was a reply to @favoritecurmudgeon. Don’t know how it got orphaned down here.

Ann Coulter without hair … most Floridians don’t even want him as governor, so how does he expect to get elected to the Senate?

Oh yeah…THAT’S why he’s twisting and turning on the NRA issue…he wants to appear ‘reasonable’. Uh huh.

Scott has massive personal wealth that he can tap into to help fund his race
Please help Nelson
This really made a difference the last 2 times with Voldemort of the South spending 60 million of his own money for a job that pays 250k
His attack ads on Nelson will start the second it’s official and generally the Fla dems wake up about 2 weeks before the election going HUH? WHAT ? He’s polling ahead ? How is that.
The last thing you want is that evil Kochsucker in congress

Scott has massive personal wealth which he basically stole from the American Taxpayer.
I would rather see him try to officially run from florida to cuba the hard way.
On water.

I may be completely wrong, but I just don’t see Scott winning this one. To be sure, it will be close, but the midterms are going to be a referendum on Trump. Considering what just happened with Michael Cohen, it’s looking like the Mueller investigation is going to be in full shit hitting fan mode just in time for the elections. Every indication, from past history, from current polling data, the teachers protests, the Parkland/gun protests, the recent special election victories, etc., all indicate that there is a huge anti-Trump wave coming. The Democrats are going to take the House. At this point I think they’re taking the Senate too. Rick Scott is already deeply unpopular and I think the Parkland shooting would be enough to make his chances of victory a toss up. With the national climate the way it is, I don’t think he can win. Again, I could be wrong.

I certainly think it’s a winnable race. I’m just saying the GOP is planning to go to extraordinary lengths to keep Florida. Based on the people they’re bringing in, that includes extralegal activity. We can only win there if we’re open-eyed about that. Money alone won’t be enough.

They’re going to have to. I don’t think that the Democrats are going to lose any of the states where they are seen as vulnerable. They’re likely to pick up Arizona and Nevada. Hell, there are two recent polls showing Phil Bredesen ahead in Tennessee, so there’s another potential pick up (I hope!). But you’re right, money is not enough. They will need a ground game and a good one. But the Democrats definitely have the enthusiasm advantage right now.
