Discussion: Police Raid Home Of Man Running Spoof Of Mayor's Twitter Account

Discussion for article #227861

I’d suggest hitting both the mayor, the chief of police and the town itself with an anti-SLAPP lawsuit as well.

Helpful tip : if you post something on Twitter you don’t want someone to see, they will eventually see it.

If the police aren’t shooting the unarmed, their doing shit like this. I’d like the DA try to explain this one.

But in this case, how? Does City Hall in Chicago have someone monitoring social media? If so, why? Sort of like learning about NCIS fishing for child pornography on the computers of civilians.

Police state? What police state?

I too ply the streams of consciousness across time and stumble upon the occassional catch phrase from 1890 to the bewilderment of all about me.
Sometimes you are the only one who “gets” you. And usually that’s all you get.

You’d THINK that after Jerry Falwell got has ass handed to him by a UNANIMOUS SCOTUS decision in 1984 over his lawsuit against Larry Flynt for making fun of his sanctimonious ass in a fake ad in an issue of Hustler magazine that pols would’ve gotten the message that they are fair game for parody and ridicule.
This mayor should be ousted for harming the city’s reputation.

Twitter Plays In Peoria

“The tweets — one said, “Im (sic) thinking it’s tequila and stripper night” — expressed a preoccupation with sex and drugs that no reasonable person could have concluded came from the actual mayor, the lawsuit argues.”

Have the people that wrote the lawsuit heard of Rob Ford?

We live in different times with New Time Religion conservatives (and Clarence) ruling the court. Nothing good will come of this. This poor schmuck will get stuck with a big legal bill and some point unless the ACLU takes his case.

How did they trace his home address? I mean, what are the details?
(I’m not surprised that they can, I’m just curious how it works.)
E.g., did the police get a subpoena and present it to Twitter?
Does Twitter record the IP address?
Was the IP address enough to track the man down, or did they need something else?
His MAC address?
How do they get his home address? Thanks!

Outside of the byline location, what does Chicago have to do with this. Please try reading the entire article. Thanks.
