Discussion: Police Probe Deaths Of Two Saudi Sisters Washed Up On NYC Waterfront

It ruined my whole day the last time it happened to me…

Are you frigging kidding? What about my comment makes you think that I’m supporting the Saudis? I’m simply asking for the ideal of a fair trial, after an investigation. Now go away.

I guess that is the problem, this is not a court room, this is a forum for gossip we need no stinking evidence.

Sounds like honor killings to me.

I’d like to know more about the presumed request for asylum. Is it real? If so, why was it made?

Or the silencing of victims and or witnesses.

There’s also some backstory here. Why did they leave the family home for a shelter?

Police said the sisters left their family home and were placed in a shelter after an earlier disappearance, in December 2017.

Placed in a shelter sounds like an abusive situation at home reported to the police.

Sounds to me like there may be some sort of honor killing motive permeating this. KSA embassy may have been complicit but where are the brother and father?

This is why “Abstaining to pass judgement until all evidence comes out”, is not only wrong but dangerous. Authorities can have reasons to hide evidence, so by abstaining to to ask question the public makes thing a lot easier, since they hide everything nobody has grounds to ask questions, so easy.

Nobody is going to be sent to the gallows for whatever “judgement” we pass here, there are courts for that. But the member of the public expressing their opinions and suspicions will put pressure on authorities to get things right.

Who are the father and brother? Saudi families don’t usually emigrate because of “better life for my children”, KSA is not Honduras, life for Saudi subjects it’s pretty nice, safe easy jobs, free education, subsidized housing. The ones that leave is mostly because they find the atmosphere there too oppressive, they are unlikely to agree to “honor killings” .

Not passing judgment yet but informed speculation is a powerful tool and we need to use it.

That said, it seems likely that some scum sucker in Homeland security let the Saudis know about the application for asylum. I hope they suffer a commensurate fate.

All we know is that two Saudi expatriate women were thrown in the river to drown. “The truth will out.”

It makes you wonder who tipped off the Saudis that the girls had applied to the U.S. for asylum.
