Discussion: Police Officer Pushes CNN's Don Lemon From Sidewalk

Discussion for article #226589

This whole thing allegedly started because a white cop wanted a black man to get ON the sidewalk.

A clear case of RWB (Reporting While Black).

Edit: though to be fair, the cops have thus far been scrupulous to fuck with (i.e., deny the constitutional rights of) reporters heedless of race, creed, or color.

I wonder what Ferguson cops talk about at their Klavern after work.

I see on faux news they say they want to see the toxicology report,I also find it so interesting with may he Rest In Peace,Trayvon Martins shooting happened at night with no witnesses this shooting happened in broad daylight with witnesses and there are still problems.

faux news(small F) are trying so hard to spin this story it’s ridiculos.

Oh Don, finding out what it’s like being Black in America I see, even with CNN logo on your mike.

Sounds like Don Lemon may want to rethink some of his “blame yourself” rhetoric.

Don’s been pushing the “FoxSpews Lite” line on a number of issues for quite some time now. Guess he just found out that line has been crossed.

Oh, you know. Golf, the kids- that sort of thing.

I think this is an attempt at intimidation. First apparently they were told to gosomewhere which they dutifully do, spend the day reporting then a cop comes along and starts shoving while demanding they move. Tactics from my youth.

Makes one wonder if the cop thought to himself, “When life hands you Lemons…” but then thought the better of it.

This. Is. Bullshit. I’ve written for newspapers, magazines and online news venues for longer than I want to admit, this is something I pay attention to, and I can pretty confidently say I’ve never in my life seen such blatant harassment of the media in any other story taking place in the United States. It just screams that they don’t want the truth to come out.

And of course there’s a damn principle involved here. Let’s hear it from the punk-ass conservatives, you sniveling hypocrites, we know you love you some Second, but is the First Fucking Amendment something you also care about, or not? How about it, “Constitutional Conservatives”? Freedom of the press? Does that matter a little? Is it maybe foundational? Anyone? It’s awfully fucking quiet out there.

I just watched the video and it looks to me that the officers are attempting a mild, very mild intimidation. Nobody was in th street until the police asked them to move to an empty parking lot.

The usual, I imagine.

Matt I took look to see what Foxnews.com was saying: they say there’s a video supporting the police version…whatever that is. Then there’s this quote on the fox web site which is part of that story:
“I mean, the police was in the truck [sic] and he was, like, over the
truck,” the man says. “So then he ran, police got out and ran after him.”
I’d say at 1st blush that Fox contradicted itself rather harshly.

How hard it is to get blood stains out of a 200-count sheet…

I hope it’s about whether or not they’ll have their jobs when this is over.

Whatever over is…

It’s bad enough to intimidate local stringers or anonymous network videographers, but when you see these crackers harassing well-known figures from major cable news orgs like Lemon, it’s an indication in blinking neon lights of just how far down the racist crazy hole the white LEOs are there.

I’ll echo what NC Steve has been saying for days now—the authorities are speaking only to white cracker nation, i.e. FoxNews and its political wing, the Republican Party. They could not care less about anybody who’s outside that tent.

Considering he’s from Louisiana, I imagine he knows.

Yeah, but it’s easy to forget stuff when your paycheck’s looking good Just ask Juan Cole.

With respect to the Ferguson police department’s heavy-handed interactions with the news media, it seems that they regard the protections provided by the U.S. Constitution as – to quote a line from a famous movie – “mere guidelines”.
