Discussion for article #247061
Isn’t it wonderful churches don’t pay taxes, with one of the conditions being pastors don’t advocate for their flock to vote a certain way on an issue or for a particular candidate?
So, the pastor just informs the congregation there’s going to be a rally, held away from the church and not on church property, and would everyone please attend and listen to the pastor beseech the flock to vote a certain way. Yet Christianity is being persecuted. Evidently paying no taxes and skirting the rules that allow you to avoid taxes amounts to persecution these days. I wish someone would persecute me by making me exempt from taxes. It must be hell being the object of the government’s ire.
Oh, well … since they already have the guy, I guess I can’t say what was going through my mind: “What, Ted Cruz was that unhappy with the dude’s invocation?”
Is this article TPM´s version of a retraction for their suggestive headline yesterday?
…if only there were more mental health facilities… like at the VA that TPubs continue / to block funds. And that Bonzo’s co-star emptied when he was Prez.
Silver lining-------the Crooze can’t declare the preacher as a martyr for his cause.
BTW… Good that the preacher is expected to make a full recovery.
Dunno Jethro; ask your horse.
“…police say has a history of mental illness…” yet he’s able to acquire a weapon. Explain to me again how guns make us safer.
These people are just dying for the IRS to investigate them. They’ve spent years trying to bait the Service into, well, enforcing the rules so they can cry “Persecution! Give Us Money!” And so far, with exasperating wisdom, the IRS has refused to take the bait.
And here I thought this was Gawd taking care of business, what with Gawd not being too keen on dipshits taking his name in vain and all.
Judging from this year´s crop of R Presidential candidates, I gotta think that Gawd just can´t be bothered to care this election.
