Is this how police defuse tensions?
Darren Wilson was found âNot Guiltyâ not innocent. A young man needlessly lost his life because Darren Wilson lost his temper.
He wasnât found ânot guiltyâ by my recollection. He just wasnât indicted by the Grand Jury that Did. Not. Objectively. Investigate.
âPolice Union In Missouri Declares âDarren Wilson Dayâ On Shooting Anniversaryâ
Dumb ideaâŚvery very dumb.
The vast majority of police officers deserve our respect and gratitude, but all need to be reminded that their job is to protect and serve the PUBLIC. Their primary responsibility is to insure the safety of average citizens, even at the risk of their own safety. That is what they signed up for and that is what they are paid to do.
The loss of any unarmed citizenâs life at the hands of a police officer is most definitely not something to be celebrated.
I bet an urban clothing store that stocked fashionable, affordable items made of Kevlar would make a killing. Of course henceforth the police unions would just see to it head shots were emphasized in officer training courses.
MO was a slave state but joined in the War Against Slavery with America. The Mo cities defiance and Independence are named because some people canât just get over things and make fester over and over and over and over and overâŚ
They (the police union) knew exactly what they were doing and right now there is a lot of unrest in Ferguson right now.
Well, Missouri didnât exactly âjoinâ voluntarily â some Federal artillery strategically aimed had something to do with Missouri not joining the rebellion.
St Louis was a major Union city as well as military installation. Missouri ended up with two governmentsâone Union and the other Confederate although the state did not split (as West Virginia split from Virginia).
Hmmm. And people still wonder why we canât just say âAll Lives MatterââŚ
Because of the neverending river of shit that is our current society.
This is in Columbia, a college town quite a ways from the mean streets of STL. Columbia is nothing like STL and likely has little to worry about with regards to protest from their constituents. Pretty cowardly act if you ask me, and one that is very insensitive to their black Officer menbers.
Exactly. Jeepers.
This is sorta like declaring a Lee Harvey Oswald day in Dallas every November 22nd.
The Japanese, against all odds, were going to insist on going down swinging regardless the hopelesness and error of their position. Then Truman implemented measures assuring they surrender regardless their preferred intransigence. One day the Old South is going to force the hands of the Federal government. We can only hope whatever measures are employed are as thorough in their efficacy.
Darren Wilson day was an idiotic idea by whatever cops did that, no doubt. But DOJ did a very thorough investigation of the initial confrontation, the pursuit, and the final shooting. In all three DOJ stated that the "evidence establishedâ Wilson acted properly, and initial shots at the vehicle and the final shooting were âself-defenseâ, and that self defense is âjustifiedâ. I used quotes because those are the words they used. They analyzed it in depth with all kinds of evidence and a ton of interviews using lots of agents. Very thorough. They even analyzed the number of shots taken, and found every one was totally justified. They left zero ambiguity. Zero. Here is the report, pages 78-82 cover these points, but reading the whole report and all witness statements is a better idea to really get a factual view of what happened.
DOJ also did a report on the Ferguson PD. It was also detailed and comprehensive, and it showed a very clear pattern of racism by Ferguson PD.
Seems a lot of liberals donât want to accept the Brown-Wilson report, and all conservatives donât want to accept the Ferguson PD report. The reality is that they are BOTH excellent reports, and involved very thorough examination.
Mr. Brownâs death was tragic, but he did not leave the cop a choice. In fact, if you read the whole report, all the credible witnesses said Brown at first raised his hands, then he gave a âah, who caresâ look, and charged at Wilson as Wilson back peddled telling him to stop. Also, one of Mr. Brownâs close female friends stated that he had been having a hard time dealing with life and was very frustrated. Almost sounds like a suicide by cop. Very tragic, but in no way was Wilson to blame, he tried to avoid shooting Brown as best he could. This is established fact by the DOJ.
As Eric Holder stated, the reason you had so many people lie and change their stories on Brown was because of a VERY understandable mistrust of the police. Totally understandable. But that does not change the facts of this specific case. They are two different entities. This is not Eric Garner or Tamir Rice. This guy was a troubled guy who attacked a cop on two occasions. Tragic, but the cop had no choice.
I know it probably contradicts training but why the hell wouldnât unloading a service pistol directing all your fire from mid thigh down do just as good a job at disabling an aggressor as body shots to the head and torso?
Oh? Why?
He had already tried to take his gun once. And then he charged at Wilson, and he did not go down until the last shot to the head. This is all in the report. Torso shots did not slow Brown down, he was crazed. All credible witnesses, and they were black, verified this. And forensic analysis indicated this as well. Brown just kept coming at him. Wilson was even backing up telling him to stop.
