Discussion for article #237571
This is what the NRA has wrought. Once the U.S. truly resembles Mogadishu they’ll maximize the gun sale revenues for their benefactors in the arms industry. Mark my word, soon 18 year old high school seniors will be packing heat across the nation. Legally. Jesus must be so happy, he and his Daddy crafted this nation (allegedly) and now you can’t worship Him safely in his house without a Glock on your hip.
Who needs ISIS what with our home grown crazy white males armed to the teeth and full of hatred.
My heart goes out to the folks of that community and especially the families and loved ones of those who were shot. My mind has such a difficult time trying to feel what you’re going through right now – but please know you are on the minds and in the prayers of so many of us who are following this story. Peace be with you.
If it hasn’t happened already I’m sure Fox News will assemble an “All Star” panel to hash this out and collectively pronounce this is all Obama’s fault.
There are so many ways this event is horrible.
When the dust settles, one of the things which will be apparent is that racists are young, as well. Young people are exposed to racism, as well. Young people are exposed to this, often with less on their emotional toolkit to place racist rantings into perspective.
The absolute smugness of people who would push against the ReTHUGGS, the NRA, the TEaHadists, the Reichwing, Rush, Talk Radio and all the rest has rested, in so many ways, on this mantra, which, I am sure, makes its way daily in Starbucks coffee shops all over the country:
"Minorities are a greater part of the population. We see that every day. The Right’s days are numbered. Our side will prevail. The numbers say so. We are in a "New Millennium’ "
The other thing that policy makers in the United States are going to have to deal with in this Century is that the phlegmatic, torpid mind of so much of the electorate fires up more to hate than the kinds of compassionate but forceful action that true representative government needs.
NOW can we have a conversation about guns in this country?
no
Or to point out that the victims weren’t all angels, you know.
TOO SOON! Emotions are heated right now after this horrible tragedy. We need to wait a year or two until things have calmed down and we haven’t had a multiple-homicide by gun.
You can already see the nra whores out with there “this isn’t a hate crime” this is just a sick boy…no problem at all with the gun laws (actually lack of gun laws).
nah it was only black people who were killed, doesnt count.
Pastor John Paul Brown, of the city’s Mt. Zion AME Church, who prayed with the Pinckney family on Wednesday, remembered the slain pastor as a youth leader who began helping with Sunday school when he was only 7 or 8.
He wanted the suspect brought to justice alive.
“He needs to be dealt with, we need answers and people need closure,” Brown said. “And if he was deranged, we need to know what was he doing with a gun.”
The NRA has successfully blocked attempts at enacting laws to withhold gun sales to individuals known to have mental health issues. He in effect had a gun ***BECAUSE*** it is what the U.S. Congress decreed is right and proper. The 2nd Amendment doesn't have a lunatic loophole. If you're the victim of gun violence it just sucks to be you.
Sad, but true!
And it starts:
Discussing the tragedy on the June 18 edition of Fox News’ Fox & Friends, the co-hosts repeatedly suggested that the massacre may have been prevented had the congregation been armed. After guest E. W. Jackson urged “pastors and men in these churches to prepare to defend themselves,” host Brian Kilmeade asked if giving pastors a gun could help with “security.” Later in the show, Steve Doocy similarly suggested, “If somebody was there, they would have had the opportunity to pull out their weapon and take [the shooter] out … If somebody in there had a gun.” Elisabeth Hasselbeck agreed, calling it a “great point.”

Yes, because one of the prime indicators you live in a free, civilized nation of laws all leading to a safe, harmonious society is everyone in a church is armed.
The United States: A Beacon on the Hill. Just be sure you're armed to the teeth climbing the hill.
And the people who agree wrth Hasselbeck don’t “come out” to vote.
They never left the political scene in their attentiveness. There is nothing to “come out” to.
They’re already there.
No, of course. The only conversation you would seeks would be limiting the access of lunatic gun advocates and they only want to expand the access, endlessly. They don’t care if your limitations are minor, necessary, or reasonable – nothing could interest them less. You are the enemy for even daring to THINK about this.
Hope that answers your question.
True!
