Inside his Toyota Tacoma pickup, parked outside the clinic, police found two handguns, another rifle and a shotgun.
One victim said she was approached outside the clinic by Dear, who told her she shouldnât have gone to the clinic that day and then shot her multiple times. She survived with wounds to her arm.
Dear stopped for directions multiple times while driving from his home to the clinic, and eventually called Planned Parenthood itself to get directions. He tore a page from the phone book with the address and a locator map.
He said he admired Paul Hill, who killed an abortion provider in Florida in 1994, along with the doctorâs bodyguard. Hill, who was executed in 2003, said he believed God wanted him to fight abortions with lethal force.
Dear admitted to gluing the locks of an abortion clinic in South Carolina, where he used to live, and that he believed heâd saved lives that day by preventing any abortions from being carried out while the locks were repaired.
Dear told police he believes President Obama is the âAntichrist.â

@silvrfox - thanks so much for sharing your very personal story. And I agree wholeheartedly that young women take their rights for granted. They seem to ignore the fact that women have had the right to vote for less than 100 years or that access to birth control for unmarried women was actually illegal in many states as recently as their motherâs generation. Reproductive âchoiceâ is just that - a choice - and girls and young women have far fewer âforced abortionsâ than they did 50+ years ago when parents with money and a willing doctor would have their daughters admitted for a âD & Câ to prevent family shameâŚ

Ah, so well said silvrfox! The greatest example of men with no skin in the game who obsess over abortion and birth control (to them the same thing) are catholic priests. Not only canât they get pregnant, they are allegedly celibate and so not at all involved in the whole question except on a perfectly abstract level. That is the easiest level at which to deal with this issue. I will never forget going to mass with my dad at a retirement home and having the elderly priest preach to a room full of elderly people about birth control. Definitely a pressing issue for people in their 70s and 80s, but at least he was not harming the young.
And the rest of my family wonder why I avoid church like the plague.

A lot of women have similar stores and the experience turned them and us into fierce advocates for safe abortions, and all that you say here is the reality of giving birth versus abortion, one being more likely to cause the mother to die than the other.
Gloria Steinem said men would declare a paid holiday during the days they menstruated and they would demand Kotex and other products be Federally funded.
