Discussion: PHOTOS: Kentuckian Gives McConnell A Thumbs Down In Epic Photobomb

Hey, plucky, nice photo. You look good in red.

My voting place in the East End of Louisville was packed today. I’ve been voting there for decades and it looked every bit, if not more, crowded than Presidential years.

We’re working on it!

you’re complaining that ā€œstink faceā€ is too puerile, but then suggest that the guy should’ve used the middle finger?

Not at all, the filibuster prevents the President from needing it. The filibuster has been killing this country for a long time as it prevents Democracy from taking action.

Yes, I am. The reporting of the gesture and the gesture itself are two different issues, don’t you think? Whether I personally would have used a gesture of any kind is still another issue, as well as whether using a sign language symbol for the words fuck you is even puerile at all, and perhaps only vulgar. What you can take away from my comment is that if I were reporting a vulgar, or perhaps even vulgar and puerile gesture, I would choose a more adult way of describing it.

Keeping in mind, of course, that if the Republicans have a majority they can very easily eliminate the filibuster entirely by a simple majority vote. In fact, McConnell already threatened to do this at the time the filibuster on presidential appointments was eliminated.

Incidentally, the filibuster was removed for all presidential appointments except Supreme Court justices, not just judicial appointments.

Forever to be known as ā€œFlippin’ the Turtleā€

America’s corporate-run elections give us options as divergent as Coke vs. Pepsi.

PRICELESS!

Listen, if THEY can elevate the likes of Joe the Plumber, so even our favorite internet icons are dressing like him on Hallowe’en in The Village, we can give this guy an identity boost.

Joe the Thumber?

Correct. And the point of the rest of your comment is well taken.

Has Allison Grimes worked up the courage to tell people she didn’t vote for Mitt Romney in 2012? Gee, she’d be the perfect senator to take on greedy Wall Street bankers, wouldn’t she? Democrats are going to lose the Senate, not because they’re too liberal, but because they don’t stand for anything.

That is just SOOOOO great!!! I hope that guy is on late night shows tonight!!

Nice to see there are some smart people in Kentucky; maybe not enough for the win, but I like this guy!

Here’s my choice of the gesture the guy should have used:

there’s always Photoshop…

and we can all hope Joe the Thumber here represents a majority.

Whats so bad about Mitch?

It ain’t over, baby, it just ain’t over. I’ve done everything I can. We put it ALL on the table.

What REALLY, REALLY pisses me off is that some of us have been out here fighting the good fight in these red states. I’ve been volunteering for Grimes’ campaign for the last few weeks and I’ve been consistently called everything but a child of God. I’m out here doing the hard work to get this woman elected, to save the Senate. Meanwhile, I’ve got a bunch of ReaLiberals pissing all over our hardwork because Firedoglake or some other bunch of assholes told them Grimes wasn’t running a good campaign. If Democrats lose the Senate, it won’t be because of the DLC. It will fall solely at the feet of ReaLiberals who’ve done nothing but trash the hell out of our efforts.
And by the way, my parents, two black lifelong KYians in their late 60’s and 70s, called nearly in tears because they’re so damn proud to have had the opportunity to vote for Grimes. My mother said, ā€œWin or lose, she fought like hell for us.ā€ But yeah, ReaLiberals in NYC know better.
