Discussion for article #226543
What if Ferguson held a protest, and no cops showed up?
Shouldn’t you be updating your little hate blog, EGBeej?
"Brown’s shooting in the middle of a street following a suspected robbery of a box of cigars from a nearby market "
Here:
“Brown’s shooting in the middle of a street following being confronted by the police for jaywalking”
Fixed it for you Brendan James.
Agreed. Assumes facts not in evidence.
Correlation (released by the FPD intended to smear the victim) does not imply causation.
Looking at a map, the street where the incident took place appears to be one block long, at the end of a residential street. It is not a traffic corridor as is implied by “jaywalking”. It would be more accurate to view it as a parking area.
That strain didn’t last long. Makes me think that TPM is more troll-resistant than ever. Community activism seems to be one of the keys, and the Moderators are wise to the serial sock puppetry by the sociopath(s) and have the tools to summarily eject them. Good times.
Not walking on a sidewalk and instead walking in the street if you prefer.
Maybe another article will provide more information, but this trouble occurs three hours before the curfew starts. Why are the police confronting the crowd this early if they are not in violation? And what does this “attempting to push toward one end of the street” by the protesters seem so important to the police? Anyone with any ideas?
I wasn’t meaning to be picky with your words. The media also routinly uses “jaywalking” and to me that implys vehicle traffic as in a commerical business area, rather than at the end of a dead end street in a residential neighborhood.
I just wanted to share this on an appropriate thread…Haven’t found one specific to militarization of the police in general today, but there’s an article in the Detroit Free Press that outlines the military equipment given to law enforcement in the last several years in Michigan.
“A Free Press review of items transferred from the military since 2006 shows Michigan law enforcement agencies have received 17 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles or MRAPs, built to counter roadside bombs; 1,795 M16 rifles, the U.S. military’s combat weapon of choice; 696 M14 rifles; 530 bayonet and scabbards; 165 utility trucks; 32 12-gauge, riot-type shotguns; nine grenade launchers; and three observation helicopters.”
Bayonets? Scabbards? Fucking grenande launchers? WTF???

Interesting article. Excuse my ignorance but I had no fucking idea this was going on until last week.
Plus it’s no fun to troll when the threading makes it nearly impossible to follow and or comment on responses. You know, it never occurred to me that that was a feature and not a bug…
