Discussion for article #236853
This contest is going to be very upsetting to the citizens of Phoenix. Think of all the police that will be necessary to keep the peace at this event. They’ll be distracted from hunting down all those illegal aliens.
It’s increasingly difficult to find value in the phrase “Proud to be an American”.
The guy who says he is an atheist is therefore just another secular progressive threatening our religious values that Carson and Cruz have been warning Americans about.
Oh looky-looky! It’s Round Two of the ‘Yell Fire in a Crowded Theater’ Contest!
“I’m a Marine"
And Marines everywhere are shaking their heads.
“Everybody has a right to be a bigot. Everybody has a right to be racist. Everybody has a right to be an idiot,” Shami told the station. “They’re not looking for an intellectual discussion. They’re looking to stir up a controversy and we’re not gonna be a part of it."
This is the best response to this kind of asshattery.
“I’m a Marine and I am far from politically correct,” Ritzheimer said. “I’m outspoken and I’ve just had it.”
I wonder what his service record looks like…
Ritzheimer, who, according to KPNX, is an atheist, said he hopes to push “out the truth about Islam.”
“It’s not that some people are out perverting this religion, it’s these guys are following their book as it’s written,” he said.
Personally I wonder why this should affect an atheist. However seeing how he contradicted himself…
As for, Shami should have told dude ‘no thanks’. That ‘service member’ wouldn’t have held that rally in a church or a synagogue; there would have been consequences if he had.
When a bully finds a weakness, something they know really gets under your skin, they pick and prod to provoke a reaction. Don’t give them the satisfaction.
I drawED MOhaMMAd KILLINg JesUS juST LIke HE DID in thE KORAM.
Nice touch the organizer specifically targets bikers to participate. I know if I wanted to attract people interested in drawing cartoons and advocating a free, open discussion of the role of religion in the societal frictions we all experience bikers would be my first call.
Oh.look! An atheist form of the Westboro Baptists. As an atheist, I’m embarrassed.
Well, if you really wanted these guys to not show up, you just announce that the police will be there to photograph the protestors. The second THAT announcement hits the web, most of the protestors will never show because they are so terrified of the police knowing where they are so they can take away their guns.
Or they won’t show because of outstanding warrants.
You’re right. I forgot that one. I wonder how many convicted felons are going to show?
I’ve been following this since noted Arts advocate Pam Geller’s recent event, and I’m just fascinated at what appears to be a revival of religious art.
Can we expect something along the lines of the contest to design the bronze doors for the Baptistery of St. John in Florence Italy, which brought out the talents of Renaissance artists Lorenzo Ghiberti and Filippo Brunelleschi?
And what happened to the submissions from Geller’s event? Are they being peer-reviewed by some fancy-schmancy arts journal critics? When’s the unveiling?
Also, it’s nice that bikers are being invited, since as we all know their artistic souls are very passionate and refined.
I suspect everyone who shows will be either a convicted or an aspiring felon, which is a small distinction at best.
You may not have heard: they’re going up in a tony museum – the buses and subways of Washington, DC – courtesy of their curator Geller and her endowment benefactors.
Crazy bigot hopes to create situation in which he can open fire on those he hates. Story at 11.
As for whoever asked about the protocols the AZ police are implementing…seriously…did you really expect them to publicize their security plans?
Will people open fire when they find out there is no money?
attention whore seeks attention, film at 11.
While it may come as no surprise, I find comparing Ritzheimer’s words and actions with the President of the Mosque’s to be quite telling. It’s sort like when the adults finally speak … and I’m not calling the slef-described politically incorrect Marine the adult. Somehow I have an idea that he’s never read the Quran (or anything more than comic books).
