Ah, but a good day for justice.
I am thankful for those people who show up at the courthouse steps for these hearings with their signs. Good on 'em.
I wonder if theyâll try to get a different judge. That shouldnât work, and it would be insane to try it, butâŚthey might try it.
It was an even worse day to D tRump!
They canât get a different judge. They could have asked for a change of venue in the beginning but they didnât. Too late now.
This was a very bad day for Trump! I see @erandall1307 beat me to it!
Karmaâs warming up.
Is she backstage with the fat lady who is practicing her scales?
Could have been worse. The judge asked if Flynn wanted to sit in the jail section or the non-jail section of the restaurant. Usually you donât get to decide that yourself.
This pebble has ripples that should give pause to the ardent Trumpsters who are under investigation, or might be.
Could have been much worse. The judge could have skipped the lecture, told Flynn and his lawyers he was rejecting the plea deal and sentencing Flynn to the maximum for this offense (donât know what that is) and not said anything else about it - called the bailiff, had Flynn taken to prison and thatâs all she wrote.
Flynn is a lucky traitorous bastard.
What does everyone make of the judge backpedaling from the T-word charge (from a tweet on linked in another post)
⌠Prosecutor says Flynnâs foreign lobbying ended before Trump administration began. Judge adds âIâm not suggestingâ Flynn committed treason.
Did it really end before the Trump administration began?
Iâve said before I donât believe in any entities that care whether weâre naughty or nice. But I sure do sometimes feel like thereâs some form of karma at work and it really does get around eventually to settling accounts with you if you push your luck.
IIRC -
âTreasonâ has been somewhat recently re-written to specify that the foreign country and ours must be engaged in a âdeclared conflictâ.
I wonder if Flynn has some tidbits that heâs been holding back because nobody asked the right questions. Something to hope for, anyway.
Oh, really. Who rewrote it?
Yup, same here: I believe in karma, the other stuff you can keep.
US Justice Dept.
Is he really that lucky? He has three months of being on a leash he was ready to walk away from today. This would be a stab to the gut if it were me.
I believe the legal understanding (Constitutional, I think, and not statutory but itâs a guess) is that the crime of capital-T Treason requires that condition (w/ nation w/ whom we are at war). The colloquial understanding is the one we all probably think of when we use the word. I think itâs perfectly appropriate to call these acts treasonous, but I also donât expect them all to be the sources of indictments for the crime of treason.
