Discussion: Perry Plans To Send 1,000 Troops To Texas Border

Wonder how it will play out if a militia guy shoots a guardsman, or vice-versa?

Nothing says small government conservative like wasting millions in state/federal funds for a photo-op

‘Blame Obama’ is the order of the day, regardless:

“If that thar non-caucasian terrorist marxist usurpin’ BOLSHUHVICKK hadn’t let all them FURRINERS into our country, this never woulda happened!”

Or at least give us a clear shot at them.

“In June, Perry announced that the state would steer another $1.3 million each week to the Department of Public Safety to assist in border security through at least the end of the year.”

Which the GOP can’t WAIT to be pay
cause it’s really a terrible problem.

“Rick Perry plans to deploy as many as 1,000 National Guard troops to South Texas to bolster security along the Mexico border.”

From a Dallas Morning News article coming soon:

“President Peña Nieto has said there is overwhelming evidence of Texas complicity in the downing of AeromĂ©xico flight MH17, which took place above an area controlled by the Texas National Guard. Gov. Perry denies the claims

“This is not a militarization of the border,” the memo says. “The DPS and the National Guard are working to keep any drug and human trafficking south of 83 and with the goal of keeping any smuggling from entering major highways to transport East/West/and North.”

It’s just Ricky being altruistic and benevolent toward child migrants

I wonder how the average Texan feels about that amount of money going to this ridiculous effort as opposed to, say, making their school systems functional or their bridges safe

the deployment of troops, in addition to the DPS forces now along the border, will cost Texas $5 million a week. The memo reports that while the state hasn’t yet determined how exactly to pay for the increase in forces, the money will come out of “non critical” areas in the budget.

“Non-critical” is open to interpretation.

$1,300,000 a week to make a political point for a governor who’s not even running for re-election
But there’s no money to expand Medicaid. Great job Texas.

Ok
just use state resources to solve the problem. Isn’t that a big part of your pitch to the Baggernut faithful? Just don’t whine if Obama pulls them for actual NG duties (after a disaster, etc).

So. You’re essentially asking:
What happens If a dumb guy with a gun-- shoots a guy with a gun sent there by a dumb guy– correct?

That’s FUBAR.

“Birth of a Nation Reloaded”. The Minutemen march on Sodom on the Colorado (Austin) and take over state government without a shot. Rick Perry, Democrats, Federal employees and the browns are frog-marched to Mexico.

I remember back in the Sixties when the governor called out the Texas National Guard to retake the Alamo. That went well.

Decisive, just like Reagan. He only waited until he had to do something. The fact that sending troops lacks any meaning whatsoever is also a major plus for the teabaggers.
Perry just had to follow through rather than admit fault, despite the waste, how conservative.
