Discussion: Pennsylvania State Trooper Fatally Wounded In Gun Training Accident

Discussion for article #228323

He confused and frightened the trainer when he put his hands up over his head in the signal universally recognized by police as “I’m attacking you now”?

That sucks. I hope they review procedures to make sure this doesn’t happen again.

R.I.P, David Kedra; and peace to his family, friends and fellow troopers.

Guns are not toys nor jewelry. They are potentially lethal weapons, even to experienced handlers, and are designed to be so. More so for the inexperienced gullible who buy them in hopes of protecting themselves and their familys. Someday, America should have an organization for responsibly minded gun owners which recognizes this unavoidable fact and which teaches, preaches and promotes gun safety via enactment of sensible laws.

In a perfect world - utopia

So, guns are perfectly safe as long as you’re well-trained.

But we recently had a Navy SEAL (Seal Team Six?) member get killed at a firing range. And now someone who had been a State Trooper for two years got killed at a firing range.

Explain, please?

I guess it was loaded…Shit happens, eh?

Still, guns are as safe as any other tool. Apprentice carpenters are killed all the time by their own hammers.
