If there is a crisis it is because you chose to jail harmless asylum seekers waiting for their asylum hearing, without having planned for the jail facilities. It is a manufactured crisis (law does not require or even recommend jailing asylum seekers) self-inflicted (you didn’t plan). Politically you’re that guy on youtube who shot himself in the foot showing off his quick-draw technique.

Emergency Powers would have to be adjudicated in court as soon as someone brought a lawsuit against him, which would most likely be filed immediately. That could take time however. In the meantime, he can and will do a whole lot of damage beyond this stupid no-wall-wall. Autocrats, like the kind he looks up to, place no limits on their behavior. He wants that freedom to act. We are entering seriously dangerous territory in this country. That’s no bullshit.
Frankly, I used to scare myself over this shitweasel’s actions. Now I’m scared by what others are writing and telling us are the potential pitfalls and danger signs posted in full view for all of us to see. And still, the networks are allowing him to pull this propaganda coup to spout his delusional crap. SMH! I am outraged to say the least.

Sorry for the snark on this topic, but what Trump needs are some real high-quality professional speech writers, the quality of those who wrote Colin Powell’s UN speech and Bush’s speech on WMD and the need to invade Iraq. I hereby remove all taxes and restrictions on renewable energies, cease all subsidies to oil and gas developers and move them to renewable energy producers, and will mobilize the national guard to install solar panels and wind farms throughout the nation.
More evidence of election fraud in a Southern state: Election fraud has become a national emergency! I hereby remove all restrictions against voting including voter IDs, limits to early voting, and ensure that all precincts in the nation have proportional access to voting machines with paper ballots. I also will form a national taskforce to ensure all Congressional districts are fair and not gerrymandered.

He doesn’t give a shit what could happen in the next administration – that’s way too abstract for him.
McTurtle, on the other hand, may get alarmed. However, since he knows that we Dems are the party of playing by the rules and keeping our noses clean, he may well figure he has nothing to worry about. On the other hand: Pelosi and Schumer playing hardball. It’s a tough call.

I am not sure its quite that abstract. I think his belief/hope is there is no next administration.
Look, he has ordered tear gas be fired upon unarmed people at the border. Twice. And received no meaningful pushback. He has deployed troops to the border…with live ammunition and the ability to use it. Now he is eyeing declaring a national emergency. Which, continuing on this path, will inevitable lead to a declaration of martial law in the not to distant future. And from there, its a bunny hop to suspending elections.
I am not saying it will go down that way…but its more than likely that’s how he is viewing the path forward.
And Hannity is in daily communication with the Kremlin. A declaration of a national emergency means Putin wins.
You may be on to something there. However, I prefer to remain (perhaps naively) optimistic that, even though damaged, the mechanisms to prevent this will hold. Heck, even Faux Noise is beginning to be willing to offer the odd criticism and pushback against Individual-1. There are cracks in the facade, which give me hope.
He is signalling that there will be NO consideration of any 25th Amendment solutions. He is fully on board with all Trump policies.
Mark this down. Because there will be a time in the future when Pence is going to act quite perplexed and innocent of any knowledge of anything (again), once Trump is gone.
Once he gets a taste of “emergency powers,” he’s gonna get really upset that no one told him how he could get his way on everything until now. I fear we are really in for some crazy times now.

The Trump administration has decided that it will address the this feeling of being overwhelmed by shutting down the government and not not paying the border patrol.
He’s had plenty of Congressional offers to negotiate security, including security that included funding for a physical barriers at the southern border. In 2017 he received funding he could have used toward that, but he didn’t. The only reason he never received additional funding is because he himself reneged on every deal that Congress made with him.
Let’s see him take that to court and explain the nature of this “emergency” to a judge.
