Yep, itâs the famous old "insane cop, sleazy cop "game.
But not coordinated ⌠fâing scary â
Bad cop, worse cop?
I think Iâm safer in the " wait till ya see it " category ⌠â
We keep hearing the complaint that other nations arenât paying their âfair shareâ, but do we actually know if that is true? And, does that include things like covering the expenses for our bases in European nations? Some amount of our operational costs are covered, and should be considered part of the payment. It would be really good if the media tracked this information down and checked this fact, because I have a feeling itâs total BS on the part of the Trump people.
The Beavis and Butt-Head Show continuesâŚ
âI think what the President-elect said in the course of the campaign is that NATO has a role, but we need to do two things about NATO that are very important,â Pence said in an interview on âMTP Daily.â
Does anyone have that Trump âdirect quoteâ tweet? #Askingforafriend
Ole Penceyâs doinâ that clarifyinâ thingy agâin.
Very relevant OT:
We probably should be saying President Pence and his sidekick Cheeto Benito.
Someone should introduce Pence to his running mate. I think they are governing on different platforms.
(and my money is on the Pence platform coming out on top)
Thatâs a highly subjective question. There is an article about how the contribution of each member nation is determined, who contributes the most, and other basic funding information at How much do various countries contribute to the UN Budget?
In 2016, 145 of the 193 member nations paid their dues in full.
âWho was running?â was an occasional question during the last campaign cycle.
Thatâs the UN, weâre talking about NATOâŚI suspect we will hear the same thing about the UN from Trump, followed by kicking them out of NYC, sometime in the next four years, because thatâs some weird Republican priority.
STFU veep, you donât have any say in this, go sit in the corner and look pretty
these guys will make Beavis and Butthead look presidential
They are certainly a lot better coordinated.
NATO, UN, Trump hates them all.
But to make up a bit for my fubar, here is a Reality Check: Trump on NATO countries paying their fair share, complete with links to other relevant articles.
@drriddle YES! why is everyone just accepting as true the premise that our NATO partners are not paying âtheir fair shareâ?
I recall a story from a couple years ago when PM Cameron took office. His austerity program called for their military budget to dip below 2% (I think it was 2%) of GDP which would have violated the NATO agreement. Obama flew to London and in a private meeting with Cameron convinced Cameron to increase the military budget to the NATO minimum.
SO, this suggest to me that at least the major players are honoring their NATO commitment. Is Greece? Iâd be shocked if they were. Spain? Italy? Maybe not. But Fâing MTP or any other major media outlet should not leave us to guess and should allow unchecked BS.
UPDATE: Check of Wikipedia says Greece is above 2%. Germany and Spain are not.
