Discussion: Pence Joins Texas Governor At Vigil For Victims Of Church Shooting

I wonder what Pence said to that child he’s pretending to care about:

“I know, I know. This was an evil man who did this. And you must be so confused and scared right now. I know. But this isn’t a time for any of that right now. It’s too soon to talk about what we can do about these kinds of things. The shooter was a white, American man with a mental illness. Not a brown-skinned terrorist. We need to consider that. And we don’t want to hurt the NRAs feelings. Imagine how they’d feel if we told them that maybe guns for everybody and everywhere was a bad idea?. You wouldn’t want that, would you little Suzie?”

It’s not like he’s proposing to do much for people with mental illnesses, either.

Seriously, though: Pence makes Jesus weep.

PR: “Get out there and grope some mourners.”

Pence’s words and visits are absolute hypocrisy. Yes, I pray for the victims and families of this tragedy. But “thoughts and prayers” are no sufficient. If I had my way, we would recall the second amendment. Failing that, at least universal background checks and elimination of military style weapons would be a good step. Pence’s tears are a condemnation of his political views.

Thoughts and prayers. But no real solutions, that would be silly.

Ah, the one thing this theocratic asshole is actually qualified to do: talk about praying.

Was Wayne LaPierre there too?

“He also proclaimed Tuesday a statewide day of prayer.”

You have to be one sick bastard to proclaim a day of prayer in memory of people who were slaughtered while praying.

Can’t leave that to mere amateurs. Was Franklin Graham there too?

Isn’t it becoming clearer that the murderer should never have been allowed access to any weapons at all? His early record already screams “troubled kid who is growing up to be an abusive assh*le”.

The US represents 4.4% of the world’s population. The US own 42% of the world’s guns. Nice photogenic, “awww” inducing photos of someone “affected” by gun violence won’t change that.

If Iran attacks my family it’s sort of unfair I can’t possess a thermonuclear device in order to protect them.

Check this out in Va. elections from DailyKos
Maybe there is hope
Democrats on the national level have spent nearly two decades running away from gun safety issues, but the Virginia election may mark the beginning of a major shift in momentum. Not only did exit polls show 17 percent of voters ranking guns as the No. 2 issue driving their vote (health care was No. 1 at 39 percent), gun policy also motivated just as many Democrats as it did Republicans.

The NRA promised to spend more than $750,000 in advertising to defeat Northam, and he still won by nine points. Game changer is right.
