Wearing four-inch heels
Nancy pulls out the stilettos.
Thank you, Madame Speaker… (Too early?)
OT In other news … Israeli police chiefs have decided to recommend indicting PM Benjamin Netanyahu for corruption, Israeli media report.
Something to do with the Trump Crime Family, no doubt…
Hell No.
Should Pelosi fail to unify House Democrats against the deal, he added, “it’s going to be another strike against her effectiveness as leader of the caucus.”
Oh, go fuck yourself! You don’t have the first strike let alone “another strike”. Do folks not understand that Democrats control nothing? Neither Pelosi nor Schumer decides what comes to the floor. They can’t make Ryan or McConnell do a damn thing they don’t want to do. And let’s stop pretending that somehow blocking the Dreamers will hurt Republicans in the short run. It won’t. It helps them with their base of stupid, trashy, crazy white people. I have confidence there will be a deal. I understand the frustration, but attacking the only people in Congress who are actually trying to address the problem is fucking stupid.
I understand the frustration of Dreamers, but the truth of the matter is Democrats don’t have the ace card in this fight. Especially with Steven Miller and Kelly standing in staunch opposition to any deal.
I don’t have an answer in the short term, but I don’t think a government shutdown would be successful. Appealing to Republicans to do the right thing is an obvious and utter waste of time. We really need to win in the midterms desperately.
And kudos to Nancy Pelosi who has more vim and vigor than Donald Trump could ever imagine.
And then handed the podium to another firebrand, Maxine Waters.
Women rule.
“Pelosi’s speech, intended to elicit a promise from House Speaker Paul Ryan to allow a vote on subsequent legislation to protect the younger immigration.”
Huh. I take back what I said in the other thread. This is fucking spinelessness all over again. Worst. Fucking. Nightmare. We need a wave and the Dems are doing everything they can to suppress their own turnout during a mid-term when we already generally suffer turnout problems in mid-terms.
Fuck that noise. Shut it down. Force the vote. Put it on Trump’s desk and then dare him not to fucking sign it. THAT is how this should be working.
CREDO is losing credibility by putting out this crap.
They control whether they put up a unified front and stand strong and adamant in the face of criticism and attacks because they know they are doing the right thing.
Netanyahu and his crime family have been at it a while…
What are they thinking? They’re giving up their leverage,” said a frustrated Angel Padilla, policy director for the liberal group Indivisible. “All of these votes will matter come November.”
Yea but only 49% of the registered Hispanic voters voted in 2016.
Maybe, but maybe not. And definitely not only.
Bibi’s various corruption scandals have been in the news since long before Trump even announced his 2016 campaign. For instance, this Atlantic article on the Netanyahu Investigations is from over a year ago, and describes scandals going back at least to 2014.
so the appropriate response is to see how close we can get that down to 40% instead?
The problem is people don’t want to see the government shut down, even on the Dreamer issue. Democrats would lose popular support if they did that, and still can’t force a vote.
If Trump tries to shutdown the government to impose his radical immigration ideas on America, he’ll meet the same fate.
I’m happy to fight when the fight’s winnable. I’m not seeing it here. And you gain nothing by losing. In fact, the Dreamers would lose ground in that situation.
And why in the world would McConnell or Ryan take it up for a vote in the first place?
The Senate pretty much got want it wanted on both sides.
There won’t be a shutdown. But a year’s extension for Dreamers would be huge. That’s what needs to be in the House bill, and Pelosi spent eight hours calling attention to it.
No
Thier response is hollow.
