That zinger is a little dated, Nancy.

The pope knows more about mitres than mitochondria.

Another uppity woman trying to assert she knows more than the appointed representative of God on earth. Will her hubris know no bounds?

No, it won’t be dated until they have a female Pope.

'Cuz the men in Congress are fully up to speed now on female reproductive science and health.

I know TPM, like all media organizations, is trying to grow its audience, but these misleading headlines that are becoming quite common here aren’t helping your case with fans who come here for smart political reporting. It made it seem like she was suddenly picking a fight with the current Pope instead of recalling an asinine statement made by a Republican years ago. We get it, clickbait works for online, but it still somehow seems disappointing when TPM does it.

Nancy’s got kind of a Mary Tyler Moore thing going on in that top photo.

I hope this is just sarcasm, but any woman who has had a child knows more than a Pope who has had none.

And so, to sum up, religions, religious believers, and their world views and actions are entirely determined and defined by formal teachings laid down be religious authorities and scriptures.

Not.

I thought it was pretty obvious snark.

It ain’t gonna change. I am tired of singing the same tune. Josh doesn’t give a good goddamn. It’s all about the money

Not dated at all, when you have given birth to 5.

Maybe the Pope has some form of divine intervention or his brain has had an immaculate conception, otherwise, Nancy has him and all of the Republicans by the short hairs on this one.

I know that women don’t know what it feels like to be kicked in the crotch like a man does, so why would I or any man think that they would know more than a woman about woman things?

This is just a political football issue, AKA derp, that doesn’t rise to the level of intelligent conversation.

Fixed that

You might want to read this in its entirety. This is a LiveWire piece; it’s not meant to be meaty. If you don’t want to read this kind of thing, then don’t read LiveWire.

I know you are just trying to be helpful, but:

  1. the complaint was about the headline, which could easily be misinterpreted as a response to the current pope
  2. If you go to the TPM News section (Category: News - TPM – Talking Points Memo), you will find articles there from Livewire and most of the other TPM sections, even the clearly-not-news wart on TPM’s face, The Slice. The home-sections of the pieces are not identified on that page.

Yeah, it was sarcasm. I’ve watched (assisted? hah!) my wife birth both of my daughters . Pelosi gets my vote.

Then there is the whole, this is not a new story. It is just reporting for the umpteenth time a story that Nancy Pelosi tells pretty much every year. Do a google search.

And by the way the original story takes place when Pelosi was a relatively new member of congress. So she was comparing herself to the Pope 25 years ago. But yeah, she a real Live Wire.
