Discussion: Pelosi Pleased With Census Ruling: 'I Certainly Hope' Citizenship Question Stays Off

We still have no guarantee. The goalpost has moved a bit with the printing extension. What kind of nefariousness will result in letting the question still appear?

What about the Gerrymandering decision Madame Speaker ? That one is now on the books.

Really? When?

ā€œIt would be a sad occurrence if people said, ā€˜well, since thatā€™s on there, Iā€™m not going to be counted.ā€™ Because it means so much in terms of who we are as a nation in terms of what makes up America and who we are and how we address the needs of the American people.ā€

Sorry, but this is pathetic.

What do you think sheā€™s supposed to do about it?

No, but this opinion opens the way to the Maryland case driving a stake through itā€™s heart, at least until 2030.

Iā€™m amazed that more people havenā€™t picked up on that.

Commerce testified they could move the printing deadline to Oct 31, 2019. https://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/dc/supreme-court-census-citizenship-decision

The printing date is now October. It had been August, no? That was the whole reason for trying to rush this through, as I recall.

It had been Monday next week. There has been no announcement yet the deadline has been moved, just testimony that it was possible to move it at additional cost.

Point out that Congress has the constitutional authority to regulate the ā€œtimes, places and manner of holding elections for Senators and Representatives,ā€ that politically motivated gerrymandering affects the manner in which elections are conducted, and she is ordering the relevant committees to begin formulating legislation to remedy the state sanctioned corruption of elections.

You have more confidence in the USSC than I. A Court that can find the citizenship question does not violate the enumeration clause despite expert testimony that it will have exactly that effect can surely find a reason why it doesnā€™t violate the equal protection clause either.

Weak tea. Perhaps she wasnā€™t expecting company?

Iā€™ve been a Pelosi defender, but this really could have been a much stronger statement.

Because half-empty is more fun.

Youā€™re comment couldā€™ve been more supportive of the leader of the Democratic party. 'Cause all we got on the other side is a misanthropic racist.
