Discussion: Pelosi: I Spoke To Sergeant-At-Arms About Omar's Safety Following Trump Attack

Tossing the obvious to the side, AOC put out a policy position and it got critiques about how she (and others) were gonna go after hamburgers.

Tliab and Omar were criticised beforehand and the ‘number 1 single’ was this notion that as Muslims, they shouldn’t be in the House , because they supposedly don’t respect the institution.

An institution that once had (checks notes) Blake Farenthold and Marsha Blackburn as members.

These aren’t exclusive.

I gotta look, but I theek that the last person did and her reward for doing so was getting typecast as the bad twin.

That might have some traction because the jig will be up. Where would he go from there? Mass internment and reeducation camps? The Republicans might be thinking “Too soon?”

I want a ‘real’ Shouter of the House like John Bercow. When that guy yells ORDER!! ORDER!!! (I wish I had larger letters) I get shivers in me timbers.

He ‘did’ do this kind of shit to McCain and Flake and Corker. I wonder if ‘those’ people who were GOP got death threats too.

Not if they’re tracking the googles to see who might need to be put on the subversive list for roundup in November 2020 after martial law is declared following millions of illegal votes being cast for Harris/Buttigieg, and Trump being forced to suspend the results… May not want to be identified by google as a known liberal…

Since Mueller apparently won’t save us, I guess calling the sergeant-at-arms is as good as any other hail Mary.

They were elected to change things and the only way to do that is to put their thoughts out there for people to know about. I’m sure the “go along to get along” types like Biden, Hoyer, Schumer and Pelosi would rather everyone else just shut up and not rock their carefully loaded boat, but that isn’t why people elected these women and they have no intention of ignoring their duty and obligations. Good for them!

Because of course impeachment on a table would curb PP’s hateful tendencies. It would also allow him to resume telling his rally rubes “They want to impeach your favorite president!” Get a grip.

They’re going to need a lot of Sergeants-At-Arms. Dem from Dublin CA needs one.

“Eric Swalwell, here’s a little ditty for ya: pop-pop-pop-pop-pop-pop-pop — 30-round clip, you’re all gonna drop,” an unidentified man says. “I don’t give a f*** anymore. You motherfer think you got some new young motherfers going to take over and f*** the Constitution? F*** you.

“You want to go to war motherfer? We’re going to war,” the man continues. “And you’re gonna be the first motherfing casualty! F*** you!”

What you call go along to get along types, and Biden can be excluded because he’s not setting policy or even in office, have responsibilities while they are in office. To respond in kind to each vile spew from the occupant would be a waste of time, self defeating and only let him know his ugly rhetoric is hitting home.

Respond in kind?

Who’s asking for that?

She could be a little more vocal in her support of Omar. Read the comment that the safe and secure Pelosi made and then read the comments that the person under attack, the person whose life is in danger, made. Tell me which of these women is showing the most courage.

Over the course of the weekend, Pelosi has emerged with the right response. She didn’t want another Omar controversy to dominate a news cycle, but she also wanted to be able to protect members from the incitement that his tweets cause among his most deranged followers. She managed to both have a subdued response to avoid stirring up the controversy that Trump wanted while also highlighting that Trump’s language has real consequences. She’ll use this approach more often and it will render Trump less effective in the media.

Is there an article somewhere detailing her thinking on this or is this your interpretation?

Thanks to TheRealLucifer. It’s a master at making wounds and pouring salt in them.

This isn’t 2016 and the candidate won’t be Clinton.

Why do some of the most informed ALWAYS fight the previous battle lost, instead of the current battle before them?
