So weâve got Pelosi whipping on one side, and
Moulton and Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) are guaranteeing they have roughly 20 members ready to commit to opposing Pelosi on the House floor in early January, the key vote. Theyâre promising a letter from those members, but have yet to produce the names.
whipping (without names) on the other.
I know which Iâd have my money on.
She was a damn good Speaker and sheâs been a damn good minority leader. I say let vote her in and maybe have her ready a successor.
Here we go againâŚ
sighâŚ

Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-OH), who once clashed mightily with Pelosi, was one of the endorsements that Pelosi unveiled on Wednesday.
âShe has earned it. She has worked indefatigably over several congresses to restore a majority, we now have it and it couldnât come too soon, and I know how hard sheâs worked for it,â she told TPM.
But the Veruca Salt Caucus wants its (always unnamed) unicorn now!
So their big stick is a rapeuglican speaker. Are we sure theyâre not Greens?
Nancy Pelosi is THE best vote counter in the house. She KNOWS how to navigate this chaos.
Wonka womp wompâŚ
the requirement that a House speaker needs 218 votes on the House floor
Thereâs no such requirement. And, in fact, Boehner in '15 and Gingrich in '97 only got 216, each.
The Speaker only needs a majority of the votes cast. Depending on how committed a given member is to opposing Pelosi, it could be as simple as having them not cast a vote - especially if thereâs no official Dem alternative to her.
Say she convinced half of Moultonâs group of âroughly 20 membersâ to take a walk on the vote, Pelosi would only need 213 to take the gavel back.
One way or another, sheâs got the votes - the math isnât hard here.
Donât sigh. Sheâll get this.
Fuck Tim Ryan.
Are we sure theyâre not republicans?
I havenât trusted Ryan since he first started this bullcrap.
Made the mistake of reading late comments at WaPo about that stupid womanâs new rules about sexual assault on campus.
I think we need a stand your ground law for college women.
Ryan is pretty iffy.
You can be sure Trump will go after whoever holds that gavel, mocking them, blaming them for his own shit show.
Pelosi has managed him (remember the meeting where he agreed to everything âChuck and Nancyâ proposed?), and she has the ability to take him on.
I hope Ohioâs fever breaks.
Well, I for one am contacting my congress person on behalf of Nancy.
Say she convinced half of Moultonâs group of âroughly 20 membersâ to take a walk on the vote,
Do you really think any of the new House reps would vote âpresentâ for their first vote?
Itâs one thing to oppose Pelosi.
Itâs another thing entirely to have someone ready to replace her.
I havenât trusted Ryan since he first started this bullcrap.
What bullcrap? Like maybe he wants to be Speaker? An ambitious politician, and canât have that b/c we love Nancy?
Whoâs Tim Ryan? A democrat in a purple? state.
A centrist? You love them, donât you.

And itâs really another thing to threaten to give up the Speakership to the opposing party.
