Yeah, but should we?

If we do, it better be with no or only positive effect on ACA. No compromises, no how.

From what I gather, the GOP is eager to put an end to the DACA issue. They want to campaign on their tax cuts and spend the rest of the session whacking medicare and medicaid. They don’t want immigration on the ballot, because it motivates the Dem base to turnout (See VA Gov). Trump is really in no position to take a hard line on the wall and will fold. It’s an absurdity and everyone knows it. He knows nothing and can barely keep it together. If a shutdown happens, it is more likely to be the result of Trump throwing a hissy fit and vetoing a budget passed by the GOP Congress than anything initiated by the GOP Congress itself.

Hey GOP, have Donnie to stop his idiotic, knee-jerk slash and burn approach to worthwhile government programs and regulations first, then MAYBE we’ll talk.

The MSM idiot Oprah presidential “boomlet” is triggering PTSD I didn’t even know I had.

I’m feeling the same. I was horrified by the amount of media coverage this received yesterday and even more astounded by the number of Dems who see an Oprah candidacy as some kind of miracle to guide us out of the Republican morass. What is going on??? Are we really going to buy into the fame and money = governmental competence nonsense??? (Thanks for letting me vent.)

No funding for the Great Wall of Trump.

The “DSM-5”?

The Corporate-Owned News likes new, shiny objects. They distract from the fact that functional Democracy is dead in American, replaced by an oligarchy of Economic Royalists…

Well, maybe it will just be a short-termed media frenzy. (I just got a hopeful message from a former student of time - a really smart, politically-savvy, young man who is also a Democrat. He is already putting out the message to young voters that, while Oprah is a motivating speaker and good at dealing with people, the party needs an experienced representative who knows how to get things done in Washington. Maybe wiser heads will prevail.)

speaking of immigration, the new DHS head seems to be more of a monster than Kelly, even.
Deporting Syrian refugees back to Syria; deporting 200,000 Salvadorans, many of whom have been working in the U.S. for decades, and whose paychecks support the Salvadoran economy.
That’s what I know about from the last two days. I doubt that’s all.

No GOP rep or senator is going to vote for a DACA path to amnesty and survive either in the 18’ cycle or in approval going into 20’ .

I guess Pelosi forgot about all the “Chuck” and Nancy" bullying, berating and mocking coming form this WH.

Face it, the GOP needs its wall going into 18’ and is going to corner the likes of Chuck and Nancy" and beat them in submission if they dont cave to providing the $$ for it then theyll blame the explosion of the DACA folks on the dems going into the 18’ cycle…

Come together my butt…

So their theory is that spending the rest of the session “whacking medicare and medicaid” won’t motivate the Dem base to turn out? And that just dealing with the DACA issue will take the immigration issue off the ballot, despite the rest of the immigration crackdown and ongoing deportations?

Please proceed, gentlecritters, please proceed.

Pelosi is very weak…she is super rich and thinks like Republicans. The sooner we can dump rich plutocrats like Pelosi the sonner we can start taking back America from the controlling rich white Republican Party.

Pelosi is fake Democrat!

Everybody but Dump knows there will be no Wall. Even his pet deplorables know it. Congress certainly knows it. And as for “Chuck and Nancy,” Dump couldn’t even get them to show up for a meeting with him and was reduced to whining at their empty chairs. They have all the leverage in this relationship and they’re not askeerd of an impotent little twitter finger.

From your mouth to Democrats ears.

Republicans have the courage of their convictions (even the really crazy racist convictions) that Democrats just don’t have. Let’s hope House and Senate leadership understand that while compromise is inevitable, they need to give Democratic activists something to rally around.

Shutdowns are awful, but so is throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Democrats hold strong. The Republicans didn’t invite you to their disastrous planned raping of the American people, and now they need you. Don’t cave in to any of their shenanigans! We, The People need you now.

Three words: Dems will fold.
