Discussion: Pelosi Declares A 'New Dawn' In Congress As Dems Take House Control

Let them enjoy their brief moment away from the battlefield.

Pelosi took the gavel with some brilliant touches – quoting Reagan’s paean to welcoming immigrants, promising transparency, graciousness to Don Young, who seemed tickled to swear her in, and inviting all the children in the chamber to stand with her as she took her oath of office. That was a picture that should linger as a reminder of why the Congress is there: to preserve the future for everyone’s child.

As I have said here before,I consider Nancy the best Speaker since Tip and expect her to continue to be. Spanky on the other hand may be in deep trouble because he sure as hell ain’t no St. Ronnie.

Let me enjoy it too. Please. This is the first thing out of Washington I’ve honestly enjoyed since Obama left the Oval Office.

Mine would rap us right on the tip-top of our heads with a wooden spoon…just once and in the exact right spot to be sharply painful…to get us to cut the shit hehe. I’d hate to find out what it’s like with a gavel…

Exactly. When you’re the party the public has for decades generally viewed as being free-spending, even though it’s utter bullshit, you have do things like this in order to combat that stereotype. I do hope it’s part of a strategy where Democrats learn to start screaming about fiscal responsibility even louder than the Republicans while making the argument that cutting corporate welfare and taxing the rich are the most fiscally responsible policies.

funny thing happened here today.
The day started out cold and snowy and around noon it stopped.
Blue sky’s and sunshine arrived as I watched Nancy reclaim her post and state how the future is going to be for trump and the GOP.
Then I went snow blowing with a smile and a warm heart.
First time that ever happened. lol

Did you catch the part where after she quoted Reagan, the cameras panned to grumpy Republicans and she threw up her hands and said, “You don’t applaud for Ronald Reagan?” It was some of the most brilliant trolling I’ve seen in ages.

Nancy will not disappoint. She is up to the daunting task.

If thing go as they should she may ascend to the presidency-2nd in line.

Mine was 4’11" (so she said) but could cast shame - a Catholic thing - like an avenging angel.

coming almost exactly a century after women first got the right to vote in the U.S.

"Almost exactly". Roll that around on your tongue for a moment.

"I'm 100 percent sure I'm probably correct."

This is a good day!

Here is hoping that there will be many, many more good days starting now.

Mueller, I hope you contribute greatly to this, too. : - )

Ah yes, the Catholic shaming…as Irish Roman Catholic, I know it well. I’ve always sort of thought that was the difference between us and the Jewish folks. For us Catholics, it’s all about shame with “what would Jesus think?” With the Jews, it’s all about guilt with “how could you do that to your mother?”

AOC loses. She refused to vote for rule change to allow more power from the floor bc pay as you go. Let that sink in. Not up to the task. Hope she learns fast. Otherwise she is a flash in the pan.

With us it was “what would your Grandfather in heaven think about that.” Assuming that’s where he went.
