Oh, come on, Bernites. The DNC “treatment” was snarky criticism, never apparently acted upon. Can’t your guy endure some back office criticism? It does not show the DNC actually DID anything to frustrate Bernie’s chances, only talked about it.
Remember, this was the entrenched party apparatchiks comparing the decades-long support of one candidate, to Bernie, who joined the party THIS YEAR, just so he could use the (D) after his name.
Name the candidates from those poor abused “territories” who should have been nominated over the ones who received the nominations.
This isn’t about geography. It’s about people. People who are unique, have unique talents, idiosyncratic foibles, different histories of good and bad, etc. The sample size you’re talking about is so infinitesimally small as to render any attempt at claiming the geography makes it unfair totally ridiculous, particularly when you start factoring in where the population concentrations are heaviest, where the most prominent engines of the economy, academia and political influence are located, etc.
If all your argument boils down to is that “we haven’t gotten our turn,” then you might want to rethink the standards you apply in your analysis of who is worthy to be a nominee or even POTUS. The same applies to race or sexual orientation, etc. All these things will come in time, but they require a person, ONE INDIVIDUAL, who possesses the requisite traits, charisma, knowledge, vision, etc., to make it happen. Not everyone can be Harvey Milk or Barack Obama and we have to take them where we find them. Would you have us disregard them based on the accident of where they call home?
I agree. The sentiments in the emails were stupid, and an apology was in order. I don’t know of any evidence that there was any action taken to undermine Sanders, but the emails were uncalled for. My only question is why Brad Marshall isn’t out on his ass, too, since he wrote at least one of those.
Deadbeat Donald would rather go bankrupt than do almost anything, apparently.
And the DNC was focused on trying to get elected in November. We have to pull in the mod Republicans – it’s critical. Critical to healing the obstruction that’s hamstrung us for decades. Critical for surviving at all with Trump on the scene. Frankly any of the Republican candidates this year would have been disaster. We’d love to have the world Bernie wants. But there’s reality, and it’s kicked us in the ass and head and stomach too often to be ignored. We have to pull together. VOTE and keep voting.
From their POV, it seems legit, because that is where they are coming from, feeling cheated, so it fits.
Bernie pulled some not so righteous moves himself, does that weigh in on the, who got undermined scale at all or just the univision of Hillary and the DNC conspired?
In this particular case, both sides did it. Bernie changed tactics and went negative then complained when that boomeranged on him. The Democratic machine fought back and was a stronger force. Bernie picked a bad fight and lost that too.
But blame time is over. The outcome is just as always expected, there is no surprise, blame won’t change it and didn’t.
I never liked the fact that Bernie used us and that is exactly what he did. He claimed to be a Democrat then promptly badmouthed us for a year. That is a legitimate complaint and again that just relitigates the past that has been determined in the present and makes/made no difference. Both sides made moves and both sides countered, it is a competition after all and a winner is produced.
But that wasn’t the main goal, winning the Presidency and shutting down the conservative craziness is. Everyone needs to be clear on that and keep it in mind.
I suspect your complaint is with the primary calendar. The West Coast contests have typically been held in the second half of the primary calendar, which means they wouldn’t do much to boost a native son (or daughter).
“In terms of how the DNC may have treated him along the way, they may have a legitimate complaint,”
But in reality they don’t. I appreciate Pelosi trying to smooth things over, but this is simply enabling and validating their through-the-looking-glass “stabbed int he back” narratives which are not true.
in 2008 California was in early Feb. Of course, the irony is that if CA went in early Feb this year, Sanders would have been slaughtered by a much bigger margin because at that point he didn’t have the money to compete in the largest and most expensive state in the contest. And the Sanders campaign and boosters would have complained even more because Clinton would have bene far more “advantaged” than his smaller campaign.
Meanwhile in California, elected lawmakers are silent about the fraud, as is the media. It is now up to citizens to ensure that the 2016 election is not stolen, like some Third World Banana Republic election.
And we’re still handicapped by that. The mere word “liberal” has been so tainted, we have to come up with a new label to market ourselves (progressives), which affords our opponents an avenue to create division among ourselves.
That Russia and Trump colluded to engage in illegal behavior intended to affect the national government is not nothing. Its called treason. It’s curious you don’t seem to care about that.
