“The President is not above the law.”
Sure looks like he’s been above the law his whole life and I’m waiting for a change. All of this has gone on far too long.
It would be nice if the House performed its duty under the Constitution. What is Pelosi waiting for?
Trump is the real national emergency.
Impeachment Now.
Small amount of hypocrisy that goes right over his head.
I just want to highlight again, how having Nancy Pelosi being speaker of the house forces the press to cover the Democratic response. They still go after Trump’s shinny object too much, but things are better. Pelosi (and her pall Chuck) have a platform to go after and hopefully stop Trump’s move to national socialism.
Nice statement but it means nothing as it does not express, in my opinion, any action that will be taken. If Trump has in fact violated the law does that not obligate impeachment proceedings?
Show him how the system is supposed to work, Nancy (and Chuck). You can do it if anyone can. (I am currently enjoying a full plate of crow from the funding debacle. It appears that you had the right idea all along.)
That Rose Garden presser was an absolute shitshow. I rarely watch Hair Furor speak, as it tends to cause damage to the television and the wall around it. But this one I wanted to see. Rambling, incoherence, sing-song delivery, legitimately suffering people used as props… This is not the America I signed up for.
Blah, blah blah.
Schedule a Vote on the AOC/Castro bill to stop the emergency dec.
File the lawsuits.
Get it moving…today… while dipshit is flying off to Mar a Lago.
Articles of Impeachment. Today.
I can’t wait for President ‘Insert Democrat Here’ to declare a National Emergency against the GOP in 2021 as their first act in office.
That is because Cheeto Mussolini has NOT in fact, “violated the law”.
This “National Emergency Declaration” is wholly within his powers as President of the United States.
Think about that for a minute…
On his say-so alone, he can set aside hundreds of constitutional restrictions upon his powers, and even IF the House and Senate both vote to override his “Declaration” he can just VETO THE RESOLUTION as there are not veto-proof majorities in either house of congress.
The people who wrote this “Cold-War-Era” law never expected a Congress to be so divided and, frankly, cowardly, to not hold a President accountable. Unintended consequences indeed.
The question is; What are WE going to do about it? (probably just bitch online like we normally do)
This WILL end up in the court system, and our only hope is that Justice Roberts really does respect the Constitution and it will be overturned in a 6-3 decision (with Thomas, Alito, and Kavanaugh voting to allow Dictatorial Edicts by Republican Presidents.)
The biggest test is now upon Republican members of Congress. Trump’s move is unconstitutional, and one he admits is political. Will they uphold their oath of office to defend and protect the Constitution or does obeisance to Trump take precedence?
The country is watching, assholes.
Sorry Nancy and Chuck, but Trump is above the law unless proven otherwise. None of us have seen any evidence to prove he’s not above the law. Well? And Chuck is a dual Israeli / USA citizen, like 12 others in congress. I cannot trust him to be a patriot and support We The People. Chuck is a Zionist wrapped in the American flag. Get rid of him asap.
I fear that we already know the answer to that question, but perhaps they will surprise me.
How about a 25th amendment / impeachment combo platter?
So just to step back and get a little perspective, he’s now declaring a national emergency entirely for the purpose of trying to impress the extreme right-wing base and their propagandists so they’ll still think he’s tough, and everyone knows this. Even the ones who think a wall is a good idea.
So it’s all a charade to try to salvage his image and reelection chances with the base, will cost all sorts of money just to attempt and litigate and will involve the Pentagon and the court system, and it will lose.
And everyone in the country knows this, and we’re going to go through it anyway.
I don’t know what the hell Congress was thinking in 1976 in giving the president such power, especially after Nixon and Watergate.
