Discussion for article #231339
Randy, you are becoming quite transparent in your methods to the madness. You are always late to the party and after everyone else gets drunk, you show up all straight faced and presidential.
Who be your messiah??? daddy???
This was meant for Ted Cruz.
I’m glad he’s saying it. The more Repubs that are willing to vocally agree with ending the embargo, the better.
Yes, the more legislators on the right side of this issue, the better.
Paul: Reading the writing on the wall is probably a good idea.
“Probably” a good idea. PROBABLY!! We’re not leaving ourselves some wiggle room are we?
Oh please, everyone uses that expression, and what it really means is that it is “obviously” a good idea.
Like if I am a passenger in a car and see a red light ahead and say to the driver, “probably a good idea to stop here”. It’s a sarcastic way of saying “no shit”.
I don’t agree with Mr Paul on some issues, and I agree with him on others. So when I agree, I prefer to embrace the idea and work with him, not make stuff up about him not really meaning it. That’s how you alienate people who are on your side on an issue.
Although I often disagree with Senator Paul, I respect the fact that he expresses his own opinions, rather than parroting the GOP party line, or relying on polls and focus groups for his “beliefs.” The pandering by Senators Cruz and Rubio to the old Cuban-American community in Florida, in hopes of securing that state’s electoral votes, is shameful.
Many readers have already said it, but obviously Paul is simply taking a position in opposition to Cruz, Rubio, and Bush III. As is the case with all politicians on the national scene (with the possible exception of Elizabeth Warren),they take positions that will benefit them politically, whether or not it is a position that benefits the common good.
Hopefully someday in my lifetime (and since I’m 70, shortly), the people of the United States will realize that our form of government doesn’t work. This is not because the the Constitution is faulty. This is because the vast majority of politicians, of both parties, are corrupt, and need to be removed by any means possible, since voting obviously doesn’t work.
“Paul noted that he grew up in a family that opposed communism and at first thought opening up trade with China was a bad idea. But he said trading with China was the ‘best way to actually ultimately defeat communism.’”
It also clearly illustrates that for a lot of wealthy right wingers their issues with the various “communist” countries had far less to do with the undemocratic totalitarian governments, then with the state run economies hedging out their money making opportunities in those areas. Indeed they don’t even seem to mind the parts of those economies that are still state run that much anymore so long as there is some way for them personally to make money in the mix.
Rand is one of the smarter wannabees. … Still crazy too.
