Discussion: Paul Simon: 'We Had An Argument'

Discussion for article #222108

The shouts of “you fucking dwarf” were accidental and the bullet holes are from the gun that just fell off my desk.

No big deal. Every married couple I know has the cops over three or four times a week, maybe more.

I mean, I’ve been married 26 years and I must have had the cops to my house at least…um…lemme think…uh, never, actually.

Never mind.

Yeah, 30 years for me and cops come over every time I fart too loudly…which come to think of it has been never in three decades.

From the official site description of TPM:

“Commentary on political events from a politically left perspective, by Joshua Micah Marshall.”

What is up with the TMZing of TPM anymore. I used to look forward to very in depth, insightful articles about politics and now we’re reduced to Paul Simon domestic violence? I cannot begin to tell you how many things are going begging for conversation on this site because they’re evidently not sexy enough for page view fodder. Surely there’s some more serious stuff that might warrant some time?

Nothing to see here folks. I bet the prosecutor dismisses the charges after making sure they get some counselling.

I’m glad to see they’ve bridged those troubled waters.

I’m surprised Simon is even discussing this in public. I rather expected the sound of silence as his response.

Fortunately, Simon had his books and his poetry to protect him. Safe within his room he touches no one and no one touches him.

You’ve really got some gall, Paul.
Your eyes are looking beady, Edie.

Very well done Charlie E, RockGolf and Goethean but I agree with Whiteboar on this one

I’ve been married coming on 20 years, and the cops have been over… once.

My ex- called them to do a welfare check on my kids. Doncha love it when your ex- gets drunk on holidays?

Yeah, he’s tough. He is a rock, you know.

Slip out the back jack

Alcohol, alcohol, alcohol.

There were injuries? Not surprised. This from the guy who has never apologized or admitted error for his open support of F.W. de Klerk personally and South African apartheid in general. Not to mention his ties to the GOP and admiration and financial support of Ronnie (Sell Weapons to the Enemy) Raygun.

I burned his records when they were still on vinyl.

See, now if I were 72 years old, like Simon, I’d say “Hey, at my age I’m just happy that I can disturb the peace!”

How violent could it have gotten? Edie Brickell and an elderly short person?

EB: “What I am is what I am are you what you are or what?”

PS: “What?”

And that’s when things got out of hand.
