Discussion: Paul Ryan To Tea Party, 2016 GOPers: We Can't Be 'Angry Reactionaries'

“We can’t fall into the progressives’ trap of acting like angry reactionaries.”

Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha! Except, we have to admit it, you got there on your own.

So that’s why Michigan Governor Rick Snyder is poisoning the people of Flint…now I get it!

I think that’s what he meant when he said “When voices in the conservative movement demand things that they know we can’t achieve with a Democrat in the White House, all that does is depress our base and in turn help Democrats stay in the White House. We can’t do that anymore."

Because the things they demand are pretty much the opposite of what the electorate wants according to polls.

Ryan is a reactionary like Reagan: amiable but STILL lethal.

Ryan is only talking about STYLE.

Hey, Mister Speaker, you Republicans BUILT IT all by your own lonesomes. Now we know what Republicans are the best at - building a house of hate. Hoocoodanode?

You “know” that world is on fire, yet you want to bring gasoline and matches as a solution. Please tells us more about your ideas.

Republicans can’t deliver anything if a Democrat is in the White House? Why not? Don’t they know how to bargain and compromise? Then they are just angry reactionaires who are incapable of figuring out how to do anything.

Thanks for the heads up on that, Ryan. You are admitting that you can’t do your job and have no one in your caucus who will back up up. You are all completely useless.

So what’s the point in voting for any Republican? The Republican Speaker admitted that he and the entire Republican Congress are incompetents who have to control everything to even have a chance of succeeding…and still can’t do anything right when they are in complete control like during the Bush/Cheney/DeLay Era.

I’m surprised by his candid appraisal of the GOP state of affairs.

I’m not sure that Ryan or the other party regulars get it. The angry right, or tea party wing if you will, are not a sect of the GOP that’s pulling them rightward. They ARE the GOP. The old guard leadership are just hauling water for them and don’t know it, yet.

I think they do know they’re carrying water for the far right. I see them as cowards who lack the courage to stand up to the far right and say, “Enough!” I remember when the TP began acting out in 2009, none of the so-called establishment GOPers like Ryan, McConnell, McCarthy, Boehner, etc.said anything to rein them in. They stood on the sidelines and helped elect them to Congress. I also remember their cowardice when the far right birther movement began. They were silent then, too. In each of these instances, and others, they were working privately to harness the crazy and make it work electorally for them. It did, and now that the far righters in Congress have become an international embarrassment to them, they do what they always do–blame someone else for their problems/troubles.

“We can’t promise that we can repeal Obamacare when a guy with the last
name Obama is president. All that does is set us up for failure . . .
and disappointment . . . and recriminations,” Ryan pleaded.

Exactly. If only Ryan had been able to say this to the Speaker of the House back in January, 2016 … Hey, waaaaaait a minute …

In a clear nod to the 2016 race, Ryan also insisted the Republican Party
needs to be “inclusive” and propose positive policy ideas rather than
preying on voters’ anger.

“We know that the economy is weak. We know that the world is on fire. We
know that the future is uncertain. There’s a lot of frustration and
anger out there. And is it justified? It sure is…”

Jesus Christ, Paul Ryan of 2:30pm doesn’t even understand what Paul Ryan of 2:29pm said.
