I suspect that Ryan is under enormous pressure from GOP donors who may be really tired of his effort to make himself look like Trump’s biggest victim. There is a reason people have contempt for fence sitters. If Ryan doesn’t pony up the voters might not remember but donors might.
That’s it. For Ryan this is one of those horrible ongoing experiences you have to just endure, the only way out is through and all that.

We need a new picture of Paul Ryan to put up on his wikipedia entry. Ideally it should be a picture that gets straight to the heart of who he is as a human being. Previously I would have said that the picture of him cleaning already clean pots at a photo-op as Romney’s running mate would do it. But we need a picture that paints a crystal clear image of who the man is and what he believes in during his time of public service.
And what Paul Ryan believes in, the man he is, the career path he has chosen for himself, is at the feet of Trump.
