               Satisfies The Freedom Caucus

He didnā€™t placate anyone. The bastards just want to go home for the holidays. They want that very important time-off from the jobs they donā€™t do.

Judging by is photos, he grows and loses a beard and than grows it again faster than anyone Iā€™ve ever known.

Type in paragraph 2: ā€œsmoothing the path for them to snot stand in the way of a dealā€ā€¦

Ryan may be a snot, but I donā€™t think thatā€™s what was intended.

Well there is plenty of snot to go around in the modern GOP. Sometimes typos reveal the deep structure of reality.

ā€œwhat you take away is that while Paul Ryan has bought some time he hasnā€™t really resolved the deeper structural issues.ā€ ā€“ David Kurtz

AKA persuading the Freedom Caucus that they in fact are in the minority and do not get to rule the country.

That last quote sums up the GOP. As long as someone makes it sound good, weā€™re in.

The comment about cleaning the barn makes me wonder how long it will be until theyā€™re calling Liā€™l Pauly Hercules for cleaning King Boehnerā€™s stables.

Thatā€™s part of it. Plus he revealed it to them in the middle of the debate, when they all wanted to be watching the debate. Which also has the benefit of burying discussion of it in the post debate noise.

Tactically, you have to hand it to Ryan. But he just avoided the arguments for the time being, he didnā€™t win over anyone. He is still going to face a reckoning.

So where are Sanford and Ryan going on their honeymoon, Argentina?

ā€œHe passed the test in terms of process and openness. He passed with flying colorsā€ says Rep. Mark Meadows, a Republican member of the Freedom Caucus who is still undecided on how he will vote for the omnibus. "Donā€™t judge the process on the product. The product may end up with a ā€˜noā€™ vote, but the process certainly gets a ā€˜yesā€™ vote."

Iā€™ll give Speaker Ryan credit for what everyone seems to be statingā€“being far more inclusive with the actual negotiationsā€“but I tend to believe that in a yearā€™s time these folks will be singing a different tune and actually judging the process by the products.

ā€¦House GOP Conservativesā€¦

Are there members of the House GOP who arenā€™t conservative? TPM and others have been doing this for a good while now, and itā€™s very misleading, if not outright disingenuous. It implies Ryan and his supporters arenā€™t conservative, and thatā€™s as far from reality as can be.

I suggest the TPM editors change this and, when youā€™re referring to groups like the Freedom Caucus, you refer to them as ā€œultra-conservativeā€, ā€œfar-rightā€, etc., and not merely ā€œconservative.ā€

In the end, moderatesā€¦

LOL. So Bigfoot, Nessie, and Leprechauns are now voting members in the House?

Moderate Republicans in the House are have entered into the realm of myth. There are no ā€œmoderatesā€ left in the GOP these days. There are conservatives and reactionaries.

They only have themselves to blame.

They had all year to hammer out a budget and then the individual appropriations bills, but once again left it to the last-minute, when theyā€™d hoped to get through everything on their ideological policy wish-lists ā€“ loosening campaign contribution limits, weakening Dodd-Frank, blocking funding for Planned Parenthood etc. ā€“ under the crisis, deadline conditions of a must-pass legislation.

Hopefully, not again.

ā€œConservativeā€ implies a coherent ideological viewpoint.

See Lestatdelc ā€“ these people are reactionaries, bomb throwers, obstructionists.
