Discussion: Paul Ryan Lays Out His Top Four Priorities For When Trump Takes Office

I suspect Ryan and McConnell will have destructive bills on Trump’s desk before Democrats fully wake up to what’s happening.

Finally, Ryan said that “securing the border is a high priority” without elaborating on what kind of immigration legislation congressional Republicans would pursue.

It’s nice to know that mucking with the Patriot Act is back on the table.

So if repealing ACA does NOT bring down prices and improve care, will you take responsibility for that, Paul?

I called my congressman, Filemon Vela (D, TX) twice before Thanksgiving. He, or is staff, had no position on Ryan’s planned destruction of Medicare. I will call again to remind him that there was an election recently, but I have little hope that Vela, or the other D’s, are in any way prepared for the train wreck ahead. It’s as if they choose not to prepare to fight.
Why? Maybe it’s because “my district is safe.” I can only speculate.

You know what sucks? Choice, in the insurance world. I’ve been “choosing” insurance every year for 10 years. The whole process just bites. I would love to give up the “power of choice” and pay into medicare every year.

Securing the border?
A wall around Wisconsin?

Well, at last we have their plan. Replace the mandate with free market underpants gnomes bearing ellipses. The Invisible Hand cannot fail. It can only be failed.

So all the things people like about the ACA, but without the means to pay for it (the individual mandate).

More fucking Tinkle-Down Economics.

But I must say, taken as a whole, this agenda is breathtakingly original! What an exciting, bold, visionary, forward-thinking, innovative, Party of Ideas agenda! Deregulation, tax cuts for rich people and beating down brown people! Of course! Why didn’t anyone think of that before? It’s all so simple once you say it, but, truly, it takes an unparalleled policy genius like Paul Ryan to articulate it. This changes everything!!! New thinking from Republicans. It can’t fail!

The crazy-eyed granny-starver simply cannot wait to screw over 20 million American citizens for wholly ideological motives. The cruelty of the GOP will be felt and seen like never before under the fascist, White supremacist administration being assembled now.

So what the devil have he and his friends been doing for the past eight years?? He is a true weasel, this one.

Ah, reducing regulations. There’s an original, energizing goal. It’s a wonder that’s never been put forward previously.

How in the hell did he forget a chicken in every pot?

“The first step is to get the economy growing.”

I’ll give you some help on that one, Congressman:

  1. Declare that the economy is growing, and has been ever since George W. Bush left office.
  2. Thank President Obama for his contributions to same.
  3. Move on.

Since they’re going to provide vouchers for hand sanitizer I guess that chore will be less icky.

With all due respect, the article says a chicken for every pot, not “in” every pot. You want the government to not only give you the chicken, but to empot it for you, too?

Sheesh. Some people apparently need the government to do everything for them…

Well, no. But the miraculous magic of free and unregulated markets will surely provide.

He forgot one of the other old chestnuts: “eliminate waste and control government spending.” Because it’s intuitively obvious that there is trillions of dollars of waste that can easily be cut from the budget, right?
