Discussion for article #242462

After 25 years in Washington you would think ryan would have a better understanding of what Presidents can do and canā€™t do. assclown.

I canā€™t tell the difference between Ryan and Boehner other than the skin tone.

Itā€™s just as well because they lost the Hispanic/Latino vote a while back. What I think they might also be losing (amongst other blocs) is the business community. Itā€™s both large and small businesses that want comprehensive immigration reform done and I canā€™t see how they back the GOP on this. I really donā€™t see what they get out of this anymore.

ā€œBut I do believe that if we try to move in a comprehensive way with a president who has proven that he wants to go it alone, I donā€™t think that works.ā€

ā€œBut I do believe that if we try to move in a comprehensive way with a president who is not from our party, then he/they get the credit, and we view this as solely as vote-buying, so that doesnā€™t work for us.ā€

How do you ā€œdouble downā€ on something that had, literally, absolutely no chance of happening in any way anyway?

You canā€™t smell the ethanol sweat through your monitor.

What a maroon .
I think he is a secret double agent for the Dems.

If a bipartisan immigration bill was brought to the floor it would pass in a heartbeat.

This will ensure continued alienation of Hispanics and other minorities . Good Job! Thanks Paul

Note to Reince : Hows that rebranding big tent thing coming along ?

ā€œDouble Downā€ā€¦ I know whenever I see that phrase along with anything related to the GOP, good things are always about to happen (deep, deeeep sarcasm).

It plays well with the uninformed RW votersā€¦

Thereā€™s a bipartisan Senate bill, ready to go. All it needs is a vote. Heck, you donā€™t even have to vote yes, if you donā€™t want to.

But instead, letā€™s shut down the GOP debate on Telemundo, promise to build a wall, stick Mexico with the bill, and deport 11 million people ā€œlovinglyā€ within two years.

Way to win over an electorate. Please proceed, GOP.

ā€œā€¦he would only move forward bills on controversial issues including immigration that meet the Hastert Ruleā€¦ā€

Ruh-roh! They may want to change the name of that rule.

And how is this going to get the 40% Latino/Hispanic vote they need to take the White House?

Hastert Rule = Taxation without Representation

You would think the Tea Party might object to this concept, instead of advocating for itā€¦

Ahā€¦the old ā€˜end runā€™ memeā€¦of course, the HOUSE wrote a letter to a foreign government AGAINST the President of the US (hint: THEIR President) but that wasnā€™t an ā€˜end runā€™. That was ā€˜concernā€™. Uh huh.

Ryan took the job under duress and his biggest condition was that he didnā€™t want to have to work too hard. Look for a lot of bluster and no substance from Speaker Ryan for the totality of his tenure.

Did he have a nice weekend with the wife and kids?

The classic GOP quandary. How can we make voters whom we despise like us? How can we make our Party more inclusive of people of color while excluding people of color from voting?
