Proving a little difficult dismounting that tiger, Ryan?

Make America America Again!

Run for office- the 2018 elections are 10 months away! And if Trump and Louie Gohmert and Steve King can get elected what’s to stop a qualified candidate?

Become a Precinct Committee Officer, sometimes it’s a Ward officer. You’ll meet with neighborhood Dems and get out the vote. Find good citizens willing to run for office.

Register people to vote. If you need to help people overcome the GOP-led Voter run-around help them do that.

Run for School Board. Make sure Civics is being properly taught. Think a majority of America knows how government works? Just 26% of eligible voters in America voted for Trump and half of eligible voters stayed home last November. Today’s 12-year olds will be voting for President in 8 years.

Run for Mayor, City Council, County Commissioner, Borough Assembly.

Get appointed to your Planning Commission. Know everything going on in your community.

Run for State Legislature or Congress. The next census is in 2020, just a year and a half from now, when we redraw Congressional Districts. And Trump is ALREADY trying to rig the census!

And get rid of GERRYMANDERING! Safe GOP seats gave us such intellectual giants as Louie Gohmert and Steve King. In most cases it’s the state Legislature that draws Congressional boundaries. Make it FAIR, OPEN and HONEST! We can do this!

Overturn Citizens United. Money is NOT speech and Corporations are NOT people- at least not until Texas executes one, and overturn any voter ID laws that are clearly an attempt to disenfranchise the poor and people of color.

Worry away, but for goodness sakes don’t do anything about it.

And having dissipated his extreme worry to the wind, Ryan will now return to his regularly scheduled full-time enabling of our uncontrolled descent into chaos.

“The new tax reform law has boosted the economy and we certainly don’t want to jeopardize those gains.”

I believe I detect a strong “odor of mendacity.” Spineless wimp.

Congressional Republicans are maneuvering to stop President Trump from levying harsh tariffs on steel and aluminum imports, arguing the move strikes at the heart of their economic agenda and could even cause political blowback heading into the 2018 midterms.

This will not go anywhere until Susan Collins expresses her "serious concerns."™

The SEC should check to see if Icahn has bought back a bunch of steel-related stocks on the recent drop in price caused by Trump’s announcement. I have little doubt that the tariffs won’t go through exactly as announced and there will be some recovery. The stock in the news (Manitowoc) has a 30 day high of 36.6 in early Feb., its low was last Friday at 26.9 and now it is up 2.2% to 27.5. Coinky-dink? Doubtful.

Is Ryan saying the Koch’s don’t want a trade war?
We all know he does not speak unless they tell him.

He doesn’t care about people generally but knows in his soul that tanking the economy right about now ruins Republicans chances for 2018, 2020 and probably a generation. The last thing we need to do right now is declare a trade war on the rest of the world.

Does it strike anyone else as remarkable (in a lame and funny sort of way) that this bold move is being done through Ryan’s spokesperson…in a statement?

Way to stick your neck out there Ryan.

“Ryan spokesperson AshLee Strong said in a statement.”

China, don’t you go gettin’ cute with us and all, you hear? – We’ll go to war with you … economically-speaking, that is.

This time it may be different, because the EU already said that retaliation tariffs are going to target exports from his district and from Kentucky. But then Ryan may be already planning to drop the whole thing and go to rake money in K Street, and might not give a crap about what happens to the residents of Janesville, WI. who deserve it anyway.

Actually, today’s 10-year-olds will be voting in 8 years.

On a related note—a happy news story!

Paul Ryan is so very, very concerned about Trump’s trade war that he sends his spokesperson out to share his feelings?? Back to the Oscar Meyer WienerMobile for you, Paulie! You’re a weenie and a coward!

Frankly, I think Trump’s just doing what he always does here…“Look what I’m going to blow up. What’ll you give me not to blow it up?” With DACA, it was directed at congress and he wanted concessions on the wall and his Make America White Again immigration policies. Here, I think he’s aiming to get concessions from China and EU that benefit his personal business interests. It’s no coincidence that steel and aluminum are key ingredients in real estate development. That being said, I would not be all that surprised if he threatens steel and aluminum tariffs and then backs off when given some concession entirely unrelated to that industry.

Edit: Oooh, also just learned about how much his buddy, Icahn, made off this shit…insider trading etc. More crimes please.

Change the bleeping law, numbnuts. The Constitution gives Congress the authority to regulate trade with foreign nations.

Article I, Section 8

The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, …;
To regulate commerce with foreign nations, and among the several states, and with the Indian tribes;

The President can only do this because Congress legislated authority for him to do so. Change the law and take away that power. Don’t just stand there and bleat. You can pass this with a veto-proof majority.
