There are persons in prison,right now, who are in prison for much lesser crimes for longer periods of time. This is disgusting and an outrage. This Judge should be dismissed as a judge. He is clearly a Trump-type of Judge. You can guarantee that a black man, or other person of color would have had the book thrown at them. This is a slap in the face to the Americans who follow the rules and are decent human beings. Manafort has not been an outstanding human being. He is a criminal and scum bag. I hope he is shivved in prison. Oh, wait. He, Manafort asked to be solitary confinement although he cried today that he has been humiliated and put in solitary. This is what he wanted because he was scared. Fuck. Him
When can we look forward to this judge’s retirement? I hope its fucking soon. He’s a disgrace to the bench. He talked about what a nice guy Manafort was in his off the cuff comments. Give me a break.
So that’s 40 months with 15% time off for good behavior, and he’s already spent 6 months in jail. So 34 months. Barely even worth pardoning, especially if it is a December 2020 pardon.

I have stood next to defendants in criminal cases for nearly 30 years who were convicted at trial for doing far less and received far more time in prison. I have never seen any of them receive essentially one quarter of the minimum term under the guidelines. But then, nearly all of the those I represented were poor and people of color. This sentence is an appalling travesty if “Equal justice under the law” means anything at all. I have no problem with compassion and leniency. I have a problem with racism and partiality, which are the only things I see that underlie this sentence.
