Discussion for article #242783
Thursday interview on Fox News that colleges have become so overly
sensitive that “it’s almost like they’ll put you in prison” for
rejecting mainstream climate science.
…and not embracing all the crackpot ideas based on fantasies and no facts.
Wait, that’s pretty much sums up his social, economic, and foreign relations “policies” as well.
I would love for a moderator to ask some of the GOP candidates to define what science is, an actual definition. It’s not a difficult question but I have a feeling they would all stumble.
Rand Paul is such a douche. Don’t you just love the way he refers to “climate science” as “an opinion”? He said “only certain opinions are acceptable…” No, Rand, it’s not an opinion; that’s exactly why it’s called “climate science”. Now, an opinion might be something like, “I think Rand Paul is a total ass hat who panders to a gaggle of credulous morons otherwise known as THE GOP BASE”. Factual as that really is, it also happens to be my opinion.
I believe that challenging basic arithmetic will get you executed and/or laughed at for being an idiot. Same difference.
“We’ve become overly sensitive,” Paul said in the interview. “People can’t tell a joke, people can’t have an opinion… I think we need more robust debate.”
I agree, Senator Paul. And in that spirit: You are a fucking idiot.
“Only certain opinions are acceptable on college campus," Paul told Fox’s Gretchen Carlson. “It’s almost like they’ll is put you in prison for challenging the religious dogma on climate change.”
Except it’s basically an established fact in the scientific community. You don’t get to just have an opinion oblivious to actual facts. That would be ignorant. You know, the opposite of the mission statement of most colleges.
They also regard evolution as an opinion. And in their quiet rooms, they speak of the inferiority of the blahs.
No, they won’t put you in prison. But if you refuse to learn the things they teach, and make fun of the professors, they will probably expel you.
I will robustly debate that! I disagree that he engages in procreation activity!
“The libertarian-leaning Republican…”
Ha!!
The libertarian-leaning Republican argued that college students today
have “become intolerant and they really have no sense of humor.”
‘No sense of humor?’ Whaddaya mean? They seem to be laughing at YOU pretty hard.
Rand Paul is absolutely right. At Straw U., there are rows of cells crammed full of students, professors, staffers, and even unwary visitors who have refused to pray to the large Climate Change idol in the campus square – and the lie-beral media is covering this up.
The Senator is right, and he’s done us all a huge favor by reminding us that American colleges do have the ability to incarcerate people.
… the religious dogma on climate change…
Um, Sen. Paul, the only religious dogma is coming from the science deniers.
"We’ve had times when the temperature’s been warmer, we’ve had times when the temperature’s been colder. We’ve had times when the carbon in the atmosphere’s been higher.”
Absolutely true!
We’ve also had times when the entire peninsula of Florida was underwater. Is Rand saying he’s cool with that?
If a legitimate questioning were brought to the climate science table, that would be one thing. But it’s almost never an honest understanding of things when it comes to the types of people who challenge climate science in a university setting. It’s not that professors or those in the field or a related field get upset that someone may be unsure or skeptical, it’s that by the time the so-called skeptics are talking they’ve already proven themselves to be smug partisan shits just repeating the same tired and debunked shit they hear on hack right-wing news sites. Rand needs to understand that.
So, with luck, they’'be coming for Rand soon?
Yes, Rand, and churches will threaten you will hell for accepting Climate Change.
Like Rand, I also used to shop at “Hyperbole-R-Us”, but I found their stuff made me the butt of jokes at all the parties.
