I believe in the freedom of religion, I believe in the First Amendment, but I’ll tell you what, I’m not voting for a Muslim to serve in any office.

An excellent summation of the GOP and evangelical interpretation of freedom of religion. The beauty of his statement is that it is flexible enough to accommodate GOP ideology on every issue of individual rights. Good for me but not for thee.

"Don’t get me wrong… ". I hope he has at least some self-loathing.

GOP Idiot:

“We are a nation rooted and grounded in Christianity and that’s that."

Founders (Treaty of Tripoli, Article 11, 1796):

“As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion…”

And a strong sense or irony.

But then again, Republicans never do.

Better keep minorities out too. Remember when slaves were only 3/5 of good old white Americans. And if it’s a Christian nation, it would seem that it would be ok to have Jews around, but do they really belong in Congress? And let’s not even mention Buddhists or Hindus. Oh, and how about those Mormons?
And this man calls himself a pastor.

Ironically, many Rethugliklan Congressmen think electing blacks, regardless of whether or not they are pastors professional grifters, makes the floor of the House look like a plantation gone all fancy dress.

They don’t call DC “The Last Plantation” for nuthin’.

My first instinct is to Google a photo of Muslim soldiers’ headstones at Arlington. But I wouldn’t dishonor the memories of great Americans by associating their names with shaming the fuck out of some worthless parasite clergyman.

As opposed to looking like a Klan rally?

So, he’ll shit all over the Constitution by declaring that the US is a Christian nation, and then say that Islamic Sharia law is wrong while trying to force Christian Sharia onto the nation. I swear, the founders had it absolutely right to keep religion separate from political power, and the sooner the nation puts people like this asshole back in the box and away from having any influence over the nation the better.

Kinda ironic that his photo is taken in front of a white sheet.

Well I did vote for Ilhan Omar and I’m glad that she will be representing me and our district in Congress.

I’m equaling glad that this loser will not be representing anyone but his idiot self.

Yeah well I think a Mullah should call the faithful to prayer every morning before Congress opens. Y’all have been forcing people to pray to a Christian god there for a long time so…

“We are a nation rooted and grounded in Christianity the separation of church and state and that’s that. And anybody that doesn’t like that, go live somewhere else,” he said. “It’s very simple. Just go live somewhere else. Don’t try to change our country into some sort of Islamic Christianist republic or try to base our country on Sharia Christian law.”

Fixed it for you, you asshole.

If he thinks the white males in the GOP will actually respect him, he will be thoroughly disappointed.
