Discussion: Parkland Survivors' Families Sue School Board, Sheriff For Negligence

It’s a pity they couldn’t sue the sheriff for cowardice too.

Instead, the agencies hired a law firm to lobby the Florida Legislature behind the scenes to stop the resolution, Michaels said.

Just what is the budget line for that expenditure?

Sandy Hook families are going to sue gun manufacturers. This gun is what killed their children

Financial documents filed by Remington with the Securities and Exchange Commission show that increasing sales of the Bushmaster AR-style rifles was one of the company’s highest priorities in 2009. That year, a Remington executive’s bonus was tied to implementing a plan for the company to hit specific sales targets for the Bushmaster weapon like the one legally purchased by the gunman’s mother. The executive exceeded the company’s target for 2009.

Damn I hope they win that suit…

It won’t be easy but they know they’re right. Just like the public was right about the dangers of tobacco.

No shit. That payment ought to be taken in strips of flesh (and blood) from each individual who authorized the hiring of that law firm.

I disagree.

The sheriff had a 6-shooter.

The assailant had an AR15 or equivalent with a huge magazine.

The sheriff was hugely out-gunned, not only 9:1 or worse in terms of available bullets, but also in terms of accuracy and reload times.

The only to take-out a shooter so heavily armed, absent a lucky or stealth shot, is with surpressive fire: first pin the guy down, then take him out. This is known to all law-enforcement and military people.

The almost certain fact is this: had the sheriff gone after the shooter he would have been killed. And perhaps more kids would have hit by having more bulllets flying.

The answer is not: braver cops nor more heavily armed cops. The answer is to
outlaw semiautomatic rifles and all rifles with removable magazines.

It’s terrible that the sheriff is being blamed. He had no chance.
