Nice to see someone at least trying to throw Trump under the bus.

Those two are all over the map in their blame game. Typical. He should get some time behind bars.

So, apparently the defense here thinks Spanky was obstructing Justice. Wonder if the judge will rule on that… hope he does.r

I give that lawyer points for creativity. And its probably true. Just means that Trump will earn a longer sentence.

I wonder whether the judge will say something scathing about where that statement sets the bar.

Is “hindered” another legal term for “obstruction”?

Asking for a friend…

“The President of the United States hindered that investigation more” than Papadopoulos did, attorney Thomas Breen told the federal judge in DC preparing to sentence Papadopoulos Friday afternoon.

“Building on that strategy of relative fault, Breen later pointed to Carter Page as ‘way more dopey,’ Michael Cohen as ‘infinitely more plaid,’ and Alex van der Zwaan as ‘unbelievably phlegmier’.”

Jail time is a scary prospect to most people. But 6 months is a cake walk, compared to what is possible for Manafort, Cohen and possibly Trump himself.

I somehow don’t think the “my client only murdered one person, the other guy was worse” defense works well in these situations.

O/T but found this amusing… (the race is apparently tied in the latest polls) -

In this case, that defense is almost like saying, “I didn’t decide who to whack - I was just the button man, doing what I was told to do.”

Federal law on "hindering prosecution."

https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/3

"Whoever, knowing that an offense against the United States has been committed, receives, relieves, comforts or assists the offender in order to hinder or prevent his apprehension, trial or punishment, is an accessory after the fact.

Except as otherwise expressly provided by any Act of Congress, an accessory after the fact shall be imprisoned not more than one-half the maximum term of imprisonment or (notwithstanding section 3571) fined not more than one-half the maximum fine prescribed for the punishment of the principal, or both; or if the principal is punishable by life imprisonment or death, the accessory shall be imprisoned not more than 15 years."

Federal law “Obstruction” is much more complex and detailed:
