ā⦠it runs completely counter to what many dozens of women have said about the character of Brett Kavanaugh at this timeā
Why do they say this? All we glean from this is that there are several dozen women who Kavanaugh didnāt assault.
This is the most remarkable train wreck Iāve ever witnessed. I mean, it just doesnāt end. In the days where there was some decency, this would have ended by now. Those days are apparently gone.
They want to see if there is any corroboration??? THIS is the corroboration.
While this spokesperson is probably wrong and wildly irresponsible, the headline TPM has put on the article (āPanicked Spox for Group Backing Kavanaugh Struggles to Maintain Supportā) is sensational and misleading. I watched the video. Though sheās grasping at straws for plausible reasoning, she seems neither panicked nor struggling here.
Remember that shot in Return of the King, where Sauronās tower is collapsing and the giant eye starts frantically looking back and forth, as if for a way to save itself? Donāt know why, but I keep thinking of that sceneā¦
Damn straight that he should be panickingā¦
If Avenatti pulls this off, he will have tremendous cred and political capitalā¦
Why do I have this feeling of irrational exuberance?
This is what happens when tribal loyalty overcomes reason. They will do almost anything, cast aside any principle, to avoid losing to the hated opposition. The only way this fever will break is when the Republican Party itself is broken.
That is an awful lot of stuttering right thereā¦
This is absolutely burying the Republicans. After they doubled down on Kavanaugh and claimed all these accusations were just a ploy from the Democrats, after being so obvious in trying to rush this nomination through, these allegations come out. It exposes not just what the Republicans are trying to do now with Kavanaughās nomination, it also exposes how much they covered up during his his previous Senate confirmations.
Kavanaugh has been exposed as a liar in multiple statements heās made in the past couple of weeks. Never mind that he claimed to be a virgin for several years after he graduated from high school, or that he barely drank when he was a teenager. He actually claimed that it was legal for him to drink in Maryland when he was 18! Thatās a verifiably false statement about the law itselfā from a federal judge?!?
This is beyond ridiculous and the whole case exposes the GOP as the party that favors sex crimes. All this six weeks before the election too.
GOP-- Grab Our Pussies!
The Party of Reason or the Party of Treason: You decide.
āWe have to remember, corroboration doesnāt mean āI told someone a year ago or two years ago,ā it means actual contemporaneous evidence.ā
As a matter of law, this is a flat out, bald-faced lie. A prior consistent statement offered to rebut an express or implied claim of recent fabrication is, by definition, corroboration. It is so important, it has its own has its own hearsay exception (okay, actually defined as non-hearsay, for the pedants). See Fed. R. Evid. 801(d).
Justice Thomas Speaks for the First Time: āDamn! Iām actually lookinā pretty good now, arenāt I?ā
(Clutching pearls) āWell, he certainly never waved his dick in MY face, darling!ā
The corroboration line is the tell here. The Judicial Committee isnāt allowing corroborating witnesses. With one witness testifying, it is by definition uncorroborated. And completely manufactured.
The stumbling and stuttering is obvious, but itās the rapid eye-blinks that tell you this is a soulless women-betraying lady lawyer whoās realizing that her post-Trump career is evaporating even while sheās talking.
What a shame , after you spent all that money on him prepping and getting him out of hock
Obviously the Kavanaugh confirmation team was aware that he might be accused of sexual assaults. How else could they have quickly produced a list of 65 women who knew him in high school? I doubt if I can remember even a dozen people I went to high school with, and Kavanaugh went to an all-male prep school.
āThey could always have more information from this additional accuser,ā Severino said, referring to Swetnick, while criticizing Avenatti for ābreaking this on Twitter.ā
As Avenatti made clear as he was ābreaking this on Twitter,ā he broke it to the Judiciary Committee initially, but they chose to ignore it. This whole pro-Kavanaugh cabal is full of bleeding, bloated assholes.
All those former Republicans who fled the party and are now calling themselves āIndependentsā should get together and start a new party, dedicated to supporting the Federal government using their shared principles. The could call it, oh, I donāt know - perhaps the āFederalist Partyā? ![]()
